[0.2 Alpha] Realistic Fortress [Abandoned]

This is a mod in progress

Hello forum, I have been lurking for a long time enjoying this forum and the mods posted on it. Sadly none of these mods really made the game tough for a veteran player like me. So I decided to make my own mod!
It is meant to improve the realism of this great game by Toady! this will be done modifying the core values of items, creatures and metals.
it will also add new Invaders and deadly animals.

If it's in progress, why is it at version 1.0? I'd call it 0.1.

Not sure that was what I was expecting to see after "realistic" in the title ;)

How does shibushi differ from billon (either IRL or in your mod)?  I thought IRL they are both similar copper-rich Ag/Cu alloys.

Could you add an ore to soils which occasionally appears in small clusters and is smelted into meteoric iron?
Also...cobalt? Maybe let kobolds use only cobalt?

I checked his raws, and sub-shibuichi is 3 Cu + 1 Ag -> 2 alloy, which means 75% Cu : 25% Ag (and a lot of waste), so indeed simply billon.

Shibuchi is 1 Au + 1 sub-shibuchi -> 2 alloy, which would make it 50% Au : 37.5% Cu : 12.5% Ag, or a slightly reddish 14-karat gold (or 12-karat is the mixing in DF is by mass and not by volume; I'm not sure ATM).



Well ... unless magic is involved. ;)

Actually, Sub-Shibuichi is 3 Copper and 1 Silver, Then to get Shibuichi you add the 1 gold.

i am liking some of your ideas, but isn't realistic fortress an odd name for this style of mod? i mean Shibuichi sounds like it would be near useless  for weapons.
but i still like your ideas .

It was actually used by the Japanese, so yeah.
I am working on more alloys right now.

Black Bronze (in the game) is mostly copper: 50% Cu, 25% Au, 25% Ag.

Shibuichi (the original) would be 75% Cu, 25% Ag; there's no such alloy in the game right now (closest are Billon with 50% Cu, 50% Ag and Sterling Silver with 25% Cu, 75% Ag).

As for Arsenic Bronze ... I'm not sure the technology exists in the DF universe to create pure Arsenic, but smelting either pure copper or copper-bearing minerals with either Realgar or Orpiment (both Arsenic sulphides) should work to create one.
