I'll have to also ask you what your idea of us joining you is. Do we get little ponies and a mildly threatening name, like Mild Discomfort and Burning Kitchen, to ride behind you? Speaking of which, where is your horse?
Why are you here, anyway? What's a rider of the apocalypse doing in a cavern below the ground? Shouldn't you be descending from the heavens, instead, taking a quarter of the world population? What's your deal?"

Stand my ground. Try to cast Greed Saber if Famine goes hostile, then aim for maximal amount of punctures.

"Uh... How about not?"
Evade, throw one of the daggers at the drawing of a sword.
Spoiler: Asmodeus Deux (click to show/hide)

You attack! (5) The dagger flies with the greatest accuracy! (2) And pierces right into War's right arm. It doesn't seem very hurt...

War's turn:
War runs at you, his sword high (2) But he misses you!

War's sword is stuck in the floor besides you!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Strange, the feeling of diluted magic...

"Vara! Arnok! Can you hear me? What are your findings? This seems like an illusion! Or...the power is emanating from something."

Move back to the mid-room, and then cast Gust into the southern room, just to try out my theory.

Before that, try to examine the crown/bow engraving for any signs or sigils once more. Then examine the floor and walls, and then go with the action above.

Spoiler: Tala Aquilon (click to show/hide)

(2) The engravings are just engravings! Nor does it help to look at the room! (6-4[NO MAGIC]=2) You fail to cast anything!

"Uh...We haven't exactly found....much."

Exit the room and get out of the way of Tala's Gust.

(1) You can't just exit the room and the feeling of pestilence hurts makes you weak!

"You have an awfully strange way of measuring if a rider of the apocalypse is 'NOT MUCH'! Vara screams.

Move to the right, out of the way of the door and Cast Galaron's Nightmare Hex on the rider, if it works, GREAT!  If not, I tried.

Spoiler: Vara Meadowbreeze (click to show/hide)

(5-4[NO MAGIC]=1) The spell burns! Trying to summon magic within the wards hurts too much!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"Could you explain? What do you mean by joining your cause?" Asbes asks, staring at Famine.

Question. Fight back if it attacks.

Spoiler: Asbes Elman (click to show/hide)

(4) It answers! "Ye who shall join my cause shall bear my mark. For Famine, you shall lose power when you feel hunger and you shall gain power the fuller you are!"

It doesn't go hostile.

Tala heard the scream. A scream she knew from most of her life traversing the land's highways -- it was either of one being harmed, physically, or someone stubbed his toe.

The former was obvious.

"Arnok!"

His voice was obviously male.

Spear charge into the room, leveling it at the nearest foe, followed by a whirl for the shaft to strike instead, and shift back a few steps, expecting a counter-strike. Attack only to fend off any coming attacks.

Then examine my foes in front of me. Do not hit Vara.

Spoiler: Tala Aquilon (click to show/hide)

IF I do get in, inquire..

"What is all this?"

"No, thank you very much, but I don't want to bear your mark. any chance of you just letting us advance without fighting or accepting your deal?" Asbes asks, preparing for combat if needed. He can't help but wonder why a horseman of the Apocalypse is in the dungeon, and why they are facing it so early.

Question. If the answer is a negative, attack.

"Should have expected that I suppose, given the fact there are still wards everywhere.  I had to try though since these wards looked different somehow."

Hack at the closest thing to me.

"Urgh..." Arnok grunts, clutching his chest where the arrow hit. He avoid pulling it out, as that would make it worse.

Arnok uses whatever strength he has left to get over to Pestilence and stab it with one of his daggers. If he can't move, throw it at Pestilence.

"Small question. Are you really a horseman of the Apocalypse, or just a construct shaped after his image, designed to guard this place? Where's your horse, Famine?"

Prepare for combat - there's probably no third solution, not with the way this thing seems to be set up. Don't attack until it does, though.

"No way you're real."
If he's still holding the sword, hit his sword hand with the other dagger. If he's not, throw the dagger and take the sword.

"What is all this?"

Initiative 87: (1) You strike at it but the weapon gets stuck inside the strange body!

"Should have expected that I suppose, given the fact there are still wards everywhere.  I had to try though since these wards looked different somehow."

Hack at the closest thing to me.

Spoiler: Vara Meadowbreeze (click to show/hide)

Initiative 66: (5) You spin around and pierce into the crown! (3) But it doesn't really makes any damage!

Initiative 62 Pestilence turn:

(4) Another arrow is shot and flies at Tala! (1) But it misses!

The feeling of pestilence becomes less and less...

"Urgh..." Arnok grunts, clutching his chest where the arrow hit. He avoid pulling it out, as that would make it worse.

Arnok uses whatever strength he has left to get over to Pestilence and stab it with one of his daggers. If he can't move, throw it at Pestilence.

Initiative 5:

(4) You sprint at Pestilence and try to stab it with your dagger! (6) But the dagger is deflected and you fall on the floor!

(5) Suprisingly, Famine nodded. "Ye who hast spoken without hostility; I will honor the pact."
Famine takes out a dagger and stabs into his neck! In a cloud of black smoke it vanishes.

"For I have no weapon to fight you. The next Seekers may join my cause."

Famine has been slain, but it will come back should the Library be opened again.

Initiative 48: War's turn: (2) War can't seem to lift his sword as easily with one hand!

"Now then, an integral part of War is the Peace at the end. If you want to, just please, surrender now."
Grab the dagger from his shoulder. If he surrenders, let him, but don't trust him. If he doesn't, go for the other arm.

"...maybe I should just take this common sense of mine, and throw it out of the window. That is, if we had windows down here... there probably are some, though... I don't know what to expect anymore."

Leave and go back to the center room, listen to the screams. Then, remember Famine's book - ask Asbes whether he has brought it and whether I can examine the thing myself.
Then follow Asbes if he decides to join one of the other two battles.

"Oh, this is a book of understanding. If you are successful in reading it, then it allows for your understanding to get better, enabling you to read higher-level books. Here, take it." Asbes says, giving the Book of Understanding to Angio.

"I already read one of those." he completes with a smile.

Back to the first room. Try to to help in the fight against Pestilence with a solid punch at its crown, unless dipomacy works or appears to be working.

"Wait, what? This is what he asked you?" Tala said in a whisper, flabbergasted at Vara's idea of joining the skeleton crew.

"Alright, alright, your idea. I won't interfere. Arnok, hold still and don't attack. Diplomacy first."

Get ye spear.

Restrain Arnok and stay in a defensive stance, holding my spear at the ready should anything charge us.

She leaned closer to Vara.

"Why aren't they attacking? The skeletons, that is."
