non magma smithing = make charcoal, do regular smithing, using charcoal and whatever you are using.

Do you want us to do reports from the perspective of our dwarves, or just report on what's happenening?
In the meantime, I've got our food and booze stocks up, got a VERY good discount on some elven goods, increased our military to one trained hammer squad, a squad of archers, and an untrained hammer squad with one competent dorf as the captain.  We are out of charcoal, so we will have to get some from a caravan.  Once we get that, we have more then enough wood to get a few hundred units of it.

You can write your updates however you want, but I assume that the dwarfed people want to know what's happening to their dwarves. Also, trading with the elves instead of murdering them?! I am disappointed. Unless you were implying that you robbed them. In which case, good on you!

I'll write up a dorf view report in English tommorow.
I'll play some more tommorow and on the weekend.

1 Limestone, Year 43-
Another goblin kidnapper has made away with a dwarven child, our military unable to catch up in time.  It is this that has made me realize that we can't just hide behind these walls.  I have appointed myself Captain of the Guard, and have begun total reformation of our militia, along with our defensive strategy.  I will personally lead the Bronze Sorcerors, our premier fighting squad.  Four of our other members our battle hardened hammer dwarves, and our last a recruit, who I have taken as my apprentice.   The other two squads are the Blockaded Sinews and Presitigous Hames.  Each of these two squads are led by an expierienced commander, who is to train three other recruits.  Along with this, I have begun mass production of weapons, armor, and called for the construction of two new guardhouses.
15 Limestone.
I have send the Blockaded Sinews and the Prestigous Hames out to hunt down the dangerous wildlife.  While they gain expierence, we can hopefully butcher the remains and use them to bolster our food stocks.
20 Limestone-
We have recieved new migrants.  I immidatly assign half to the guardhouse contsruction, and the other half to cutting down trees, farming, and miscelleneus task.
10 Sandstone-
The southwestern guardhouse is complete.  I assigned the Blockaded Sinews to it, on the basis of three being on duty at all times, allowing the fourth to rest.  The guardhouse is two levels high, and contains the neccasitys needed to last for long periods without outside help.
1 Timber-
The main guardhouse is complete.  It stands outside the main gate, and it multiple levels high, with room for expansion.  Each level is capable of housing it's own squad, with their neccasary equipment and supplies.  The Bronze Sorceresses have taken up the first level, so that we may quickly respond to any threats that emerge, or to flank any invaders that attack.  The Prestigous Hames have taken up the old guardhouse, by the main entrance.  They will act as the new defenders, keeping any enemies from entering.

Upload them to an image archive website (I recommend imgur.com), then use the [/img] command to embed it into a post.

Main Guardhouse.
Also, do we attack the dwarven caravans, or will that cause a loyalty cascade?
And that's why I refrained from killing them all at first sight.

No, leave the dwarves alone. We don't wanna muck about with crazy civil war bugs.

Will post another report tommoro hopefully.
Almost all of our military has been armed with warhammers, but we lack the material needed for mass armouring.  For this I will temporarily solve by using leather, but I'll try to put in an order through our liason for some actual armor.

Have you used up all the human armor? Melting and smithing that stuff should have given you some armor.

The smiths are still in the proccess of doing that, and we also have some toys and instruments that we can melt down too, but my plan is too have at least a twenty dwarf or higher military by the time I end the turn.  Which will require much more armour then we currently have.

We will need a well-oiled war machine if we are to take on the elves, humans, and goblins. Your plan is good.
