I found an Amphibian Man Vampire in a Dungeon and I've tried drinking his blood both while he was alive and dead, but I don't become a Vampire. I still get hung/thirsty and eventually dehydrated. I've searched and found many threads about this issue, but no clear reason as to why or how to deal with it. I've read about people drinking the blood of 6 Vampires and still not turning.

 Any advice?

Gen a new world, sometimes it just bugs out.

Well there was a dev blog that stated vampires will be randomly generated on how you get their curse. I guess this one you need to do something special.

I've actualy had this issue.

Look at your strength, and see if it has raised at all.

If you still aren' sure, go into a town, wait untill nightfall, and then press 'e' next to a sleeper.

If it gives you the option to drink, there you go, you are now a Vampire.

But if it took effect, wouldn't I not get hungry/dehydrated? Or am I understanding that wrong? I was under the impression you'd get a red "thirsty".

You won't have to eat or drink anything.

But yes, if it takes effect, you get a red thirsty.

I've had this problem a lot. In fact, I don't think I became a vampire more than once, and I drank a lot of vampire blood. I suppose it's most likely a bug.

Anyway, if we're at it, does the bloodthirst actually kill you, or affect you in any way, for that matter?

You won't die of bloodthirst, but you'll get much slower and worse at attacking, blocking and dodging if you don't drink blood.

This is a known bug. Some worlds just don't allow for vampire spreading, no matter what you do.
The only fix o this is gen a new one.
