Even though I feel early and mid game is fun and great, the end-game lacks a bit on the automation area. I was really hoping befriending people would give me benefits like "buying seeds remotely" or unlocking farmhands, but nope.
And I find it a bit sad how everyone always repeats the same lines, even during second year events. If the game's supposed to last a couple of years, why not make both years a bit more unique? There's a few major events that nobody comments after it happens, which makes things feel really disconnected. Meanwhile, there are some minor reactions, like if you sell stuff directly to Pierre, sometimes people will comment "Was it you who sold that Salmon to Pierre? I bought it. Excellent quality, keep it up!" - I was kinda expecting major events to be more connected to the in-game 'daily' experience like this, and cutscenes to have better ways to trigger them and better reactions after they ended. It's even worse with the spouse.
In this regard, it doesn't feel much of an improvement over older HM games.
In conclusion, IMO if SV was a cake, it would be a delicious cake, but it's missing a few frosting here and there, and I'm hoping the ending will provide the cherry on top so I can forget about the silly frosting.
There's a great chance the dev will expand on the game, though - he says it daily on his twitter - and for a 15$ game made by a single guy, I'm more than happy with it. I already bought two copies, I'll also buy the soundtrack tomorrow and keep following his projects.
