Hm. Head to the tavern, maybe there is a crowbar/lever in there.

Anybody else notice how much warmth the Raincoat is giving? Well below freezing here at ground zero, but we're comfortable. I am suspicious.

The "crackling" sounds reminiscent of bogeymen.

You enter the bar. It looks like they tried to make a stand here, whoever they were. The door is smashed to splinters, and corpses litter the ground. And the walls. And the ceiling. Hung, stabbed, slashed, evicerated, crucified. What remains of the jukebox is blaring static as hard as it can, crackling madly. Liquid drips from smashed bottles, and the lifeless bodies of the dead. Wooden planks litter the ground, as do chair legs, kitchen knives, and other improvised weapons. The ones with guns were killed neatly, almost bisected, and their weapons smashed to pieces. Most prominent is the corpse of someone who tried to put together some sort of improvised armour, a welding mask and a leather apron, holding a machete. Dozens of small holes have riddled the front of it.
