getting juice?
« on: September 27, 2012, 09:56:37 pm »

How can I get juice with my main starting character while keeping him clean? The guide I watched said to keep him and the people directly under him clean but they can't even get juice without getting a crime on them. So how is it possible to do that?

(Taken from another thread)
To get juice without getting caught, I suggest getting a full squad of people and arming them, save up 6000$ and upgrade an Industriel Distruct safehouse and move them there, then just go out and kill people, starting at places likr the Park until your characters get their Rifle Skill up, then moving on to places like the Police Station to get Police BodyArmor. Also important for a raid is to buy traps, 3000$, it makes it so most people won't shoot back during raids, so you get better armor and weapons sooner. Every time one of you members gets a rand up in juice, your founder gets juice as well. When you can, get more full squads for your founder, and if you can, get full squads for each of your members your founder got. It may not make the founder juice, but enough people will guns and armor make it so you won't need to get new fighters, more then likey, ever again. So I guess this was tips for your juice problem, raids, and keeping people alive.

Well, maybe I can help here?

One way I found to Juice w/o gaining charges (because in my--limited--experiences, charges = Heat) is to do site raids and stick to petty theft.  Slow but relatively safe, even in Nightmare Mode.  Since petty theft doesn't generate newspaper articles, I don't think it affects the CCS startup either if that's a concern.

Go around picking locks (NOT breaking down doors), grabbing things that aren't nailed down and aren't being watched*, optionally drop pickup lines or talk about the issues, and start leaving when the Conservatives get suspicious.  Every item picked up=1 Juice for everyone in the squad, up to 200 Juice.

*If there's an encounter present, picking locks or taking things can set off the Conservative Alarm (bad), Alienate the moderate Masses (really bad), or even provoke a Liberal to cry for help (I guess xe wasn't Liberal enough?).  Taking goods in particular will add a Theft charge to the taker, generally the first person in the squad.  Stealth skills can help avoid raising the alarm, but not the Theft charge.  Best to wait for the coast to clear.

At 200 Juice, there's no way I know of to keep a character Juicing without at least racking up Theft charges, unless you have a safehouse that can be raided repeatedly (yours or Theirs).  Killing Conservatives in their safehouse (you'll know if it's a safehouse--they're clearly marked in the destination list) doesn't count for Murder charges, and killing at least the CIA or Firemen at your safehouses didn't count for Murder in the last version.

(I've read something about characters gaining Juice because someone below them Juiced enough to level up.  I've never noticed that sort of thing making a significant contribution to my people, but then I don't track my hierarchy that thoroughly.)

How about spraying LCS tags? I haven't played LCS for a year now, but i remember it was a safe way to get juice up to a certain level.

Tagging is low-risk--granted--but one Juice for one count of Vandalism, and the only skill boosted is Art, which one can more safely train by selling art.  If I'm going to get charged with Vandalism (which could be a problem if the Death Squads are around), might as well free animals or smash machinery for 3-5 Juice and the Security & Disguise/Stealth training in the process.

Only way I know to Juice whilst maintaining a clean rap sheet is to petty-steal without witnesses.  Killing Conservatives in a place that won't report it is better, but generally isn't reliable.

Well, Vandalism charges do not generate heat, IIRC. It just causes troubles at the trial. Also, tagging the Vegan Co-op and the Juice bar is a pretty fast way to get a liberal to 50 juice, where they could recruit another one.

Also, another low risk but slow way to get juice is to grab a driver and the guy/gal/other to juice up, give him/her/xer a gun, give them both a heavy body armor, go to the crack house, get one naked, find a gangster, get noticed, put on the armor, and when you ring conservative alarm, get the heavily armed character to intimidate the gangsters. Each guy you intimidate gives you juice up to I don't remember how much, and doesn't generates charges. Tedious but doable.

Do LCS tags disappear after a while so you can tag a surface again? Or you can't gain any more juice once every surface in every location is tagged?

They do disappear after a while. It varies greatly by location -- your tags will last much longer in the projects than they will at the police station, for example.

"Join us to Liberally redecorate your Co-Op!"
"Wow, man, you really know how to use a spray can."
After some discussion, Hippie agrees to come by later tonight.

Good to know about the vandalism charges--I know there's some sort of metric for what generates heat but wasn't sure what did or did not.  Probably posted somewhere and I either didn't see or forgot about it.

I like to use hacking to raise juice. It is safe-ish, specially after you get some sleeper judges and lawyers and change safe houses every so often, plus it raises a lot of money. With very high disguise, persuasion, security and other assorted skills, simply walking in the courthouse and tampering with the jury, hijacking the radio/cable program or with very high computers, even stealing the CIA files, then walking back out persuading the conservative thugs that you actually belong there, does raise juice pretty nicely.
