@Vgray, Taz from the previous fort really liked Sen, right?  It's been a while since I've gone back and looked all of that stuff up.

@ElfCollaborator, That would be fantastic!  Hopefully the first wave of migrants will be a big one.  I want to get as many people in as possible.

@Krisslanza, That's exactly the version we were using.  Dear God, that was horrible.  That was then compounded because necromancers could see through things, so we had so many necromanced mosquitos that the game slowed to about 2-4 FPS.  That was the death of my previous community camp.

@Aseaheru,Karakzon,GreatWyrmGold,Splint, I am so glad you guys discussed this!  I had thought you needed to use the kiln with fire and stuff in order to actually make the bricks.  We do have one small problem before we start making adobe huts...  We don't have any fire safe materials.  Oops.  I'm going to try to get some crafts made so that the first merchant's group that comes along will hopefully trade us some kind of rock.  Then we'll turn that into a kiln and we'll get things really rolling!

To be honest I don't really remember much myself.

Actually, clay itself is firesafe isn't it? A clay oven for firing bricks makes sense, since we're going sumerian here.

I vote all buildings be made from either clay bricks or raw clay. Because why we didn't think of that last time makes me feel stupid.
Agreed.

Yes, but does Captain have any clay?

we need a kiln to get clay, so we can use clay, thus we need a bit of a firesafe thing first... FUN.

It would probably involve installing a means of wetting them down, and then trees would also possibly grown on the roofs.

buckets would be inefficent, so that'd probably work as a theme thing.

This looks awesome, add me to the bolding list, any military please.

Also seconding the idea of using clay wherever possible.

Is your plan really to flush water into hell, and have the CARP marines fight them without threat of flame or disease?  If so, you are awesome, and one of the greatest DF military visionaries I've seen yet ( not that I've seen that many, or any, for that matter )

Really? Muddy clay floors will grow grass? I'll have to test that. Hmm. I wonder if muddy constructed stone grows moss.
