Also guy's when you are making your soldiers remember you need to choose what material the armor and weapons are made of,

Early game there is only iron and steel and only me and Deny have access to steel so the rest of you can only have iron equipment unless you trade for steel from one of us.

Ops sorry and lol 500 food?

I'd need more then that for 50 hc and 100 lc let alone an army.

O you won't have 500 spare.
A seargent who is not a full time farmer will not produce as much as a full time farmer.

I would not trade it to much or it becomes kind of common place and its value would nose dive very quickly.
And also magic is your big advantage if you trade it with lots of people your only advantage is lost.
Like steel is mine so I'll limit the number of people I trade it with.

Thus the reason why I only do business with people who can give me what I want.

Most of the others would not be able to give me protection, food and space. I only trade with people willing to trade them with a atheistic enigmatic group of sorcerers and scholars who are distrusted by the population because of aforementioned atheism.

@-adwarf: And what's the cost of hiring your spearmen and archers?
First year of hiring their services is to cover their food costs, and a vow to aid the Band in a future endeavor. All after that will be food costs, and additional depending on what they will face, or what you plan to use them for.

Hey, I don't get to set the prices.

Right, but as a Knightly Order I'm also getting various funds from at least the Royal Family, so I should have the money to purchase the remaining food I need. Plus I could always get more recruits. You have to admit that the salvation of your immortal soul is a pretty big draw.

Not when those recruits are only in it for the killing/glory.

No offense.

Dunno does not hold much interest to me.
But my people who are religious at all are going to be worshiping the Norse gods anyway since I've based my people off the vikings.
I would not over estimate the money from the royal family assuming Great gives you it and not you have to get it from the nobles in the game.
You won't be given a huge amount of money to buy an army.

After all your a knight order not a nation so you really should not be using mercenaries anyway.
Knight orders in general were more or less mercenaries themselves they did not hire them.

Yea the appeal of saving your immortal soul probably wont attract as many as you'd think when magic exists religion tends not to be a strong draw.

I'm going to die, really.
I have nothing to trade, nothing, and i need tons of food.
And all my people have a job.
Maybe i could change 50 of these metalsmiths into miners?
Yeah, can i do that?

I suppose but I guess you'll have to ask Great if you can add a mine.

But 50 miners won't get you far.

It'd take 50 miners a month to get 1 unit of gold.
It'd take 10 miners a month to get 1 unit of silver.
It'd take 1 miner 1 week to get 1 unit of iron.
You need 3 units of iron to get 1 unit of steel.

Assuming great accepts that ratio.
