I scramble my squads thinking this is a major threat...

One of my hunters and his dog make it run away.

Since when do single gobs tourists get announced like they are dragons?

One possibility is that it is a werebeast who's not currently in animal form. They still get announcements, albeit without the scary description.

It's a werebeast that showed up while the moon wasn't full.
