I just got a DFTerm server working, and I must say, I'm super excited about it. So here it is, let's all play together! (possibly at the same time!) I encourage you to drop on in and make your mark! It would be great if you could leave a post saying you were here, what you did, etc. Feel free to dwarf yourself as well!

Behold, Elderstockades! A Simultaneous Succession Game

Rules:
1) Be respectful of the game. I'd like to take this semi-serious, so no griefing. If you do, your IP will be blacklisted.
2) There is only one world created, so just this one fortress to run. I'd prefer it if you didn't save fortress, go back, and gen new worlds. Just play this one!
3) If you play, it'd be nice to see a post stating you logged in, and maybe what you did!
4) Have fun!

Don't be afraid to DO things. I promise it won't hurt the game!

Artifacts:

"Grievekillers," a gabbro floodgate has been made! It is encrusted with cushion gabbro cabochons and encircled with bands of rectangular gabbro cabochons. This object is made with spikes of gabbro, blue garnet and horse bone. Worth 4200*. Woo! An artifact floodgate!

If you don't know how to log in, it's simple! First, you need a telnet client (I prefer PuTTY)

Fire this bad boy up, insert the Ip and port number, click the Tenet radio button. The only other thing you need to do is change the remote character set to UTF-8 in the Window > Translation menu.

If you want to use a graphic set (the way you view the game is all client-side. It doesn't matter what I am using on the server, just what your telnet client shows you) you can download some DF Fonts, install them, then change the font in the Window > Appearance menu. Here is a link to a zip file full of nice graphics sets turned into fonts:

Built some stuff.  I've always liked playing DFTerm games.

Here's an easy-to-use BAT setup by Carnes, adapted for this particular server.

Up to 16 dwarfs now. Started up an animal training area, which I know nothing about. (I usually slaughter them all!)
Edit: It looks to be working! We have a sizable war dog population. Time to tie them down out front!

Caravan came, and we have NOTHING to trade them lol. Oh well. I traded for some thread because I want to make some rope to tie down our increased war dog army! Looks like the caravan wants maces, splints, and windows... Hmmm.. D

On the brighter side, we are smoothing away our bedrooms and dining room! Happy dorfs...

We are having some thievery. Needs some traps out front.

Is there's a way to configure putty and/or a font to see the game in squares instead of rectangles?

For example I'd like a 5x5 room to look like a square and not a rectangle.
I want the same horizontal and vertical distance for each square.

Download this zip and install the font you want to use (it has a ton of popular tilesets). Then in putty set the font to the one you installed! A lot of the fonts have the size in the filename (i.e. 8x8, 10x10, etc)

I did that and it still looks rectangular.
I'll check ti out more later mayne, for now I can play rect.

I dug my quarters in the marble layer, hotkeyed as F8.

A few work orders have been created, for rock armor stand, rock weapon racks, rock cabinet, rock coffer, rock doors and rock statues.

Well epic failure, in the worst way. The fortress was never saved, and the server stopped running. Dwarven tears. I am going to look into trying to enabled an auto save feature for the future. In the meantime, anyone can come back in and keep working. Make sure you save if you really want to save your progress! If you log in and are at the main menu, just reload that one fortress. Should only be one.

Whoa got a huge wave of immigrants, up to 44 right now. Mid-Spring of year 2! Mined a ton of gold nuggets, trying to find magma to set up smelters.

Guess I'll designate some military!
