Why do we assume that dwarf snot flies at supersonic speed and can penetrate deeper than any bolt?

The real question is, why do you assume it doesn't?

Because Toady doesn't actively program stupid stuff?

Because, cross-referencing the fact that a sneeze moves at 100 mph in RL, and the current fact that thrown water in adventure mode can kill easily, leads to the implication of sick dwarves having flying hammer crossbows in their nose.

Obviously not intentional stupid stuff by Toady.

Because they think it's funny.
Regular day at the dining hall.
Urist McSneezers begins to sneeze.
"HOLY CARP TAKE COVER!"

The next day, everyone has caught flu.
Everyone sneezes.

09/28/2012 Toady One Moving on to defining various things that grow from the plants -- flowers, fruit, and leaves, mainly, but the raws should be fairly generic here. There are just "growths" from the plants, with various timing, development and item type variables, and if you're modding you should be able to call them whatever you like or have a tree that grows bronze swords or whatever. We should have apples or some kind of edible fruit soon... we have choices for fruit trees to add now I suppose.

I love how this went
The Toady One: "Yes, great progress has been made in many aspect of trees, how they will grow, and how things will grow off of them. BTW, It will bepossible to make things grow on trees that aren't fruit"
Everyone else:"Yeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss. Time for my money tree and boose bush."

Boy, I can't wait for th weirdness modders come up with. Might have to see what I can do myself. I'm not much of a modder, but this release has made even me see the possiblities.

Urist McMigrant:  Urist, why are you standing beneath that tree with your mouth open?
Urist McHerbalist: *speaking through the drool* It's booze season, the trees are just about to ripen and drop their sunshine booze!
Urist McMigrant:  Holy carp, I thought that was just a fairy tale!  Move out of the way, I want my share!!!

This makes me wonder if the growths will necessarily be solid items, as in barrels of booze, or if literal liquid booze can be produced... Perhaps a river of booze fed by booze bushes might be possible?

1) Mod in explosive 'fruit' (natural temperature manipulation), mod out every other possible fruit.
2) Visit Elven Retreat
3) Watch spontaneous explosions go off
