Let's set sail back to Tirailo, then. We need to get some repairs done.

You take your fleet back north, all the while watching for pursuers.  The Clipper never leaves its position while it is in sight.  It will take another couple days to reach port.

Continue the search for a lone ship

As you sail eastward, you spot a couple of ships on the horizon.  One to your North, another ESE.  Both ships seem larger than either of yours.  They make no move in your direction.

If one is down wind from us move towards it until it can be identified. If not head towards the northern ship

The Eastern ship is upwind, and closing quickly.  However, it does not appear to be heading directly at you, just in your general direction.  As such, you turn your fleet North, and attempt to overtake a ship headed East.

Let's set sail back to Tirailo, then. We need to get some repairs done.

You eventually limp into port.  Through the battle, your fleet sustained 124 gold worth of damage (you have 240 on hand).  However, because you were unable to 1. hit another port (the pirate cove had nothing you could sell) and 2. secure another ship you are unable to make any money.  Fortunately, you know where you could hit to help minimize pirate influence in the area.  Also, your 4th ship is fully built, manned, and ready to help with your patrols.  CPT. Lustig even has enough recruits to replace the men you lost along the way.  You need a couple of days to complete the repairs to your vessel.

(Sorry I couldn't post yesterday.  Got a little busy. :-[)

I'd like to inform the Port Authority of the pirate base and show it to him on the map before we set out again.

The Port Authority seems really intrigued that the base is so close.  They say they will send a fleet there to deal with them, but would ask you to guard the port so they could send an adequate number of vessels to meet the pirate threat.  If you do, they will pay for your repairs.

You believe the ship to be a Galleon, but are still a ways behind it.  Your men hustle to prepare, whether by loading the grape shot or grabbing the rifles.  You see that your brother is following suit on the Skirmisher

Come up on the starboard side and fire at will with all cannons, Have all crew members with rifles target the enemies gunners and attempt to prevent them from firing, When in range of the enemy cannons turn in towards the enemy ship as the enemy cannons fire and attempt to evade the enemy shots.

You make up ground quickly, now within 20 squares of the enemy.  The Galleon starts a slow turn starboard, obviously readying its cannons, and starts signalling you to retreat.

The Port Authority readies its fleet and starts heading out of port.  They were able to make repairs easy enough to your other vessel, so you have three available for guard duty.

I need to  know basic plan for guarding.

Continue to close, Signal that I wish to talk. Once close enough fire cannons targeted on the enemy ship and immediately continue past the enemy vessel. Crew men with guns are to target enemy officers and gunners. Once past the enemy vessel turn at best possible speed and come alongside the enemy vessel again and fire remaining cannons.

You signal a desire to parley with the enemy captain.  The Galleon continues its turn, still keeping its cannons pointed your direction.  They say if that is the case, they require a gun salute to ensure you are unarmed as you approach.  They will return the salute once accomplished.  Otherwise, they say they will fire once you enter round shot range.  Your first mate observes that the grape shot you currently have loaded would reduce your range to 1/3 of their round shot range, and getting hit with a volley could have severe consequences for your ship.

I can't really get into details very well without a description of the port, but the general idea would be to have the ships out patrolling and coming in for leave as follows:

At Dawn: The Nottingham sets out to patrol as the Harvest comes into port.
At Noon: The Warrior sets out to patrol as the Scout comes into port.
At Dusk: The Harvest sets out to patrol as the Nottingham comes into port.
At Midnight: The Scout sets out to patrol as the Warrior comes into port.

And they'll sit just outside the port with their guns loaded and look menancing.

You hold back just out of range as you modify your ammo for the upcoming battle.  The Galleon starts to turn away, trying to give itself a little more distance between you.

I can't really get into details very well without a description of the port

The port is 7 squares wide and 11 squares deep.  Their is one pier on each side and one running down the middle (-4,-4 to -4,14; -1,-54 to -1,14; and 2,-4 to 2,-14), each 10 squares long.  A keep sits on each side of the ports entrance, with two more on the edge of the coast. (-5,-4; 3,-4; -7,-2; 5,-2; -9,0; 7,0). Each has 2 guns.  2 days into guard duty, and no suprises.

Close in on the Galleon come up directly behind it so it is unable to hit me, Once in range turn ship to present cannons and fire round shot then pull away and allow the Noldor to perform the same maneuver
