Have you considered getting a poll for the site? Letting people vote for this or that or something. I've found one site that is for polls, its called http://www.go2poll.com/faq.html. Not sure how well it works since I dont have a homepage, but look it up

"Go2poll is offering the services for Free so the poll-hosting price is free till we launch premium services."  I wonder if there's something more permanent?  Is anybody else running something they like?

Do I have to take polls for poll questions?  I don't have questions in mind, really.

Well unless you have a plan written in stone you could always make a poll "what arc would you like to be coded first?" or "should trees respawn faster" "should the river be moved 5 tiles to the right?" "Free cookies for all?"

I don't think it works like that, though.  I think he suddenly gets an inspiration, claims a workshop, and turns out an arc in a flurry of mad mumbling.  We can't use priorities to set arcs the same way we set lesser tasks; we can just provide the necessary resources via paypal and hope that he doesn't go insane.

Speaking of which, I should thank the person that sent me a dollar.  It was more than anybody else sent today  You paid for flour for pizza dough, which is cool.

It's true, I don't like feeling like a stenographer, type type follow orders type type.  But it's good for people to get to say things and stuff, and I know people like to feel like they are part of what's going on, which is good.  The logistics of web features always frighten me.  Hopefully others can assume that burden -- all this forum help is already sapping my programming strength!  Not that I mind.

You only get tiny donations like that?  Dwarf Fortress is worth as much as most industry-standard games, in terms of gameplay.

He he he, thanks.  Since Dwarves came out, I've received $161, and almost the exact same amount in the months prior since I had the donate button.  A lot of it has been from people I've known for years, though some is from people I've just met on the forum/channel or not at all.  It's probably too early to say anything, though it certainly doesn't seem to increase with the traffic

Other forum softwares come with polls inbuilt AFAIK. Of course, switching over's a lot of hassle and probably not worth it...
