However we have two timelines going so the damage is equally distributed.  All of both timelines are now in a state of half exist, half don't exist.  The swordsman is now a quarter exist dead, don't exist dead, exist alive and don't exist alive.

Fortunately, Brother Hofstadter, in Tacticus: Continuity, and Existential Crises provided an answer: We re-distribute the existentiality of the timelines until timeline A decidedly exists and timeline B decidedly doesn't.

Ah I see then. However, the destruction of Universe B causes the timegate lane to destabilize and become a portal to the sea of dimensional chaos as detailed in the Book of Incomprehensible Planes 2nd Edition.
