The Rules Game (Turn 2)
« on: September 20, 2012, 09:48:09 am »

Edit: Oops, wrong place. Meant to put this in Forum Games and Roleplaying. Um... what now? Fixed thanks to TCM.

Here's my attempt at a free-form game. The official objective is to take over the rules system, but you can really try for anything you want.
Spoiler: Current rules (click to show/hide)
And there we go. It may be more strategic to work with other players to take over the system, though remember that there can only be one (official) winner. It may also be fun to make pointless and weird rules like "All posts must start with 'Boop'" or "All posts must contain a small comic". If your rule is too annoying, though, expect it to be quickly removed and another rule to be created that prevents your annoying rule from returning. Removal of my "default" rules is possible but not suggested until other systems of moderation are in place.

All the posts are now called cards, like the one my granddaughter plays. you know, with the pika-choo-choos.

All text between (( )) is OOC, and rules don't apply to them.

All Cards with the shooby-doo-bop and the boopbedoo have to have a Picture of a Fourth Gen. Pokemon!

((This could go places, but cards will eventually end up being paragraphs of....stuff.))

Cards, even ones without pudding pops, may ignore other requirements if they contain only votes for the adoption of proposed rules, or the removal of existing ones.

Removal Vote: Fourth Generation Pokemon picture requirement.

The final words of each line in a card must rhyme.  Excepting nonofficial comments/spoilers/votes.  Just 'cuz
"I didn't ask to be born, but I'm glad I was."

Removal Vote: Fourth Generation Pokemon picture requirement.

Removal Vote: POKe and the Man pictures of the Fourth Generation, done!

All Cards must now contain a picture from Gen 1.
Here, for your convenience, chum.

This isn't an update, just a clarification.

-10ebbor10 and Joben, your rules were blocked because they violated the rule of conflicting rules. Exceptions to rules cannot be made unless they are built into the rules they are exceptions to. If this was not the case, you could just make a rule that states "One does not need to follow any rules if they use parentheses". I get away with the "How turns are displayed cannot be modified" exception because it modifies new rules to give in to that exception. You can get around this in a similar way, but it will only apply to rules created later down the road. You'd then have to manually modify any other rules you wanted this to effect. Even if that wasn't the case, 10ebbor10's card didn't have any Bill Cosby references or pokemon references. You can still make another rule each before the turn is over, though.

-Greenstarfanatic, only one rule per turn. I'll take the rule in your first card as your new rule for the turn, meaning no pokemon pictures you guys carded were necessary. Votes against nonexistent rules don't have any consequences, since there is no rule that states any such consequences. Everyone who voted for removing the pokemon picture rule have their votes back for this turn.

-miauw62, I'm thinking that saying "Bill Cosby" is enough of a reference to him to validate your cards. Just start all your cards with "Bill Cosby Pokemon" and you should be good.

-In the future, I probably won't say anything if a rule is blocked until the end of the turn. I'm only giving these warnings because we're still getting started.

-No existing rule has any consequences for cards that simultaneously do not follow rules and do not have any new rules or votes in them. Having all zero of the rules and votes in your card ignored doesn't do anything. This also means that this whole time I could have said posts instead of cards.

Because trying to stuff Fate/Whatever's engrish and the title of a 17th century book on statecraft into Pokemon syntax tends to make the content incomprehensible.
