Hey there! Just thought I would show you guys the Death & Taxes mod LP I am doing. If you don't feel like watching it you should still look at the mod if you have EU3 as it adds a huge chunk of human history that leads all the way two WW1 and a bunch of othere changes, and by the way I totally overestimated the Ottomons.

If you want to try to play them then try death and taxes as you can start 5 years earlier then regular so you still have constantinople and are'nt just stuck with morea.

I find Byzantium to be.. surprisingly easy if you manage to trap most of Ottoman army out of your desired conquests, using ze fleet.

The ottomans dont do to well and infact lose ALL of their coastal areas.

Byzantium wasn't too hard in 1399 vanilla and I doubt you'll do badly in D&T's easier 1384 start.  Good luck, I'll be watching!

I managed to do it in Vanilla, so it can't be too atrociously hard. How much harder does D&T make it?

It actually makes it a bit easier as you can start earlier than regular so you still have constantinople. It does make all major nations easier to but that also makes it harder for you and from what I understand they changed the AI to be a little more of a dick then regular.

You still have Constantinople in Vanilla.

Vanilla is probably about as hard, maybe a tiny bit harder.  The problem in D&T is that Constantinople now straddles both sides of the Marmara, meaning you can't simply escape the Turks via blockade.  On the bright side, you're now surrounded by several relatively manageable states instead of one absolutely enormous Ottoman Empire.  To beat the Ottomans in Vanilla you normally have to rely on rebels, blockading the strait and a little bit of luck.

I think Vanilla's Byz is a little harder to execute, but you can do more reliably than D&T's.
