Can the teams communicate effectively between the Salvation and their location?

yes. still. it IS the future, you DO have a spacesuit, and unless you want a bulky mechanical system, im betting your Freqhop is NOT done by hand.

our cargo hold is almost full, we can't loot a lot, only something very valuable
So tech then? Targetting systems (probably unlikely)? What should I keep my eyes peeled for?
Record the location of everything of value, we'll decide while you search.
Aye. Do I have anything that can do that with me or should I just write it down?
Um...we're recording this, right? Just say it out loud, I'll record it on paper for posterity, we'll go from there.

The ongoing discussion is rudely interrupted as the charges go of, disabling the doors magnetic locks. The seal fails, and the air starts slowly seeping inside the room. A small amount of ice sets of on the door, possibly indicative of a high humidity inside. On the other side, the Helium team has managed to disable the magnetic lock, and pull the door open, rather hardhandly. With the sound of a cannonshot, the air rushes inside, almost knocking some people over, but in the end nobody's hurt.

The crew quarters are clear. There's some signs of a fight, but not much. Can't see any bodies either. Allmost all quarters are abandonned, but a few have some signs of habition. A few personal items, but nothing recent. Getting deeper into the ship does prove to be a problem. The elevators are disabled, and the stairs appear to be barricaded. Nevertheless, you should be able to get up, either by smashing through the barricade, or by using the elevators maintenance shaft.

On the other side, Shia and her team have managed to open their airlock, and are greeted by a human face. Sadly, it's no longer connected to the rest of the body, of which you find various piece further on. This solves several questions, but calls one several more pressing ones. The body is heavily decomposed, and no longer complete. It also appears to be partly eaten. From what you can see the first class quarters are clear, but it's only a question what or whom awaits you inside the ship.

Meanwhile, the Salvation crew has another pressing problem. It constitutes of a single message, composed of a single word, of five letters. It's blinking on one of the monitors, and appears to be coming from the ship. The message is simple: Hello.

I support GTFOing, we aren't space marines to do such stuff.

But let's not rush with nuking it, try to communicate with whatever is inside the ship

We could tow-cable it. Would we be able to drag that much mass though?
And what happens if you jump while towing something?

I asked that before, when I considered towing pirate frigate - We'll leave it behind

Well there goes that idea.
Wait, aren't we escorting a colony ship? They should have some milita (at least) and space suits aboard, if we want some backup.

Unless we enlarge the jump bubble thing and bring it real close.

"Hydrogen team, Helium team, what is it? Just point a camera at whatever's distressing you and ah. Oookay. These folks thinking there's no party like a Donner party? Ha ha, investigate a little more if old, eaten body bits are all that scares you. Look, there's meaty bits still around, and long enough that I can see they've decayed. These are either wasteful desperate cannibals or not hungry anymore. Which means they're probably dead. Besides, this is a cruise ship, you're probably the best-armed on board."
George turns off the intercom. "Unless the nuts found food and the ship had marines to repel boarders, but that's not enough to worry them about. Still, keep an eye out. George turns the intercom on again. "Everyone keep your cameras on and pointed at something important that other people aren't covering thoroughly."
