The robot is told to look for the closest link to the ship's internal network. It's unlikely that the wireless network inside will still be online, and even if it was, then the radiation would make it unuseable. Meanwhile, the teams have finished packing themselves in, and are preparing to make the jump. For the second time in row, the Salvation opens the it's airlocks, and the team jumps over the endless abyss. It's a jump that has to be timed well, or they will end on the other side of the liner. Nevertheless, everyone safely makes the jump.

When they arrive on the ship, they find that the crawler drone has managed to cut a hole in the wall and hook up to the ship's intranet. While it can't change anything, it does gain some usefull information. Primarly, the radiation is indeed coming from the reactors, which appear to be damaged, judged by the limited power output. Most power is directed at the cooling systems, which seem to be only barely coping with the overheating reactor. What little remains is divided amongst the lifesupport and the ship's board computer, which is for mysterious reasons running at full capacity. Since this action probably already alerted anyone on the ship of your actions, you decide that it can't hurt to use the intercom. You pick a number at random, and phone. Predictably, nobody picks up. As you expected, the entire ship is probably death. But just before you hang up, the phone is picked up. An ear shattering resonates through the Salvation, before the connection is abruptly terminated.

The team on the ship, unknowing of this recent event, has just finished securing the airlock (Only one of the two doors was still operationall, so they had to close it manually) and is about to open the doors for the drone, before they continue to the bridge.

thanks for the clarification on the mechsuit.

right. tell the teams about the thingie, send team 2 to help the drone in shutting down the reactors/fixing them. probably fixing them if possible. i think team 1 will check out the thingie, then the bridge. we probably want to bring this in for salvaging.

"None here, just some thermite charges. Hydrogen team is heading toward the bridge. Any update on the scans? This place is absolutely dead. Burn marks and holes, either there was a hell of a firefight here or some deep penetrating missiles, definitely some laser strikes too. Any update from Helium squad, Salvation? Over."

Shia gestures to down toward a small hole, similar to a cauterized penetrating wound, long dried once melted alloys form strange structures in the low g along the sides of the tube. The point man avoids the hole, traveling onward at a quick gait, rifle men follow on after him, stomping along in the low g, as if in slow motion. The next door to the bridge looms in sight and the squad forms up around it. Shia begins setting up the explosives to render magnetic locks ineffective and pry the door open easily.

Yep. i hear you. we ARE right next to you. we'll go and deal with the reactors if you guys deal with the bridge and the noise. unless it was farther back. where WAS the noise?

Shia switches channels and holds up the new frequency in hand signals. Her team complies.

"Set up the torchs and laser cutters. We will begin cutting when I receive confirmation from the Salvation. Keep in mind that the structural integrity is decreased, I don't want to fall through the floor."

One of the riflemen with a white and yellow stripe painted across his suit, kneeling down and setting up the laser cutters taps his helm and replies in a young voice Aye aye. Squad commander, respectfully request permis-

"Yes, you may ask a question, Nastasi. Shoot."

Well... the rifleman pauses, then continues Do you believe all that about the dead ships? I mean not about the ghosts and stuff but... I don't know. Have you ever heard about the Old AIs?

"Drek, all of it. Still... Keep your wits about you. We still have no idea what happened here."

Shia chambers a round, silent in the void.

I do realize we are in the void. after-all, im in it. *switches channels* right. load up. we're going for the reactors. get them fixed and we can fly this thing out to be scrapped. no looting!*reloads*

We don't know if we can even reach them until we recieve a reply. Do not do that.

Shia grits her teeth "I will switch to freqhop if you don't quit. Contact me if you get an interesting sitrep all of the sudden. We will be up here trying to get through to the bridge. Don't get excited about this place. It is LEAKING RADIATION and looks like swiss cheese. There might not be anything worth looting even. Now move out unless you intend on going blind with all the laser torches going off. I also suggest switching to your squads channel and off of my squads. They look a little aimless unless you would like me to lead them both."

Freqhop is when a frequency will change randomly to cipher itself. It's how people obfuscate signals IRL.
