Let's also try and get all of our reactors and weapons at top quality.

Sell all of the rare minerals, the plasma cannon and laser, and repair 2 more reactors if we have enough.

In that order please. Let's head back in the direction of the scrap yard after we drop off these civvies. Maybe we can find some stuff to bring us up to par, hm? (unless the GM doesn't want us going back there anytime soon.)

Let's skip on the missiles until our ship is in better shape. We can do without those for now. And don't sell off our non-missile based weapons! We need those incase we run into trouble (but I approve of heading to the scrap yard, there's probably some kind of weapons, cargo or intact armor plating we could scavenge there)!

And stop being such a wuss about selling the crates contents, they are most likely not illegal at all and with the sheer amount of things that are traded, floating in space or salvaged from wrecks, there is most likely no real way, or at the most little in the way of, of enforcing what goods are illegally found and claimed. Sell the contents of the crates and be done with it, they aren't drugs for gods sake (aside from the medical stuff which is perfectly legal)!

And there is doutlessly more dangerous substances than those nuke rods, so I highly dout that we'll be arrested for selling them. At the worst, I think the authorities will just take them from us and we wont get paid. Sell the damn things and be done with it!

Laser
Fighters
1 reactor
2 aux thrusters

More repairs pending on how much money we get from selling stuff.

What, selling our lasers? No, thank you. And plasma cannon is a very good weapon

Plan A: pure military upgrade, max combat power

We definately should sell the jump core ( +1500 credits)
Also we should sell all minerals (+1250 credits)
Also I think we should sell the cargo shuttle ( 1250 credits) (don't forget to unload all fuel from it to main fuel tanks)
Also we should try to sell fuel cells and seeds if this is legal

That gives us 6050 credits total...
Purchaces

Convert one docking to cargo - 500 credits, not only it gives us a net +250 cargo gain(considerating loss of the cargo shuttle and it's good place to store to store fighter parts near those fighter)
Replace patches with tedaline - 800 credits
Don't forget ask to give all the scrap back to us (parts from cutting dock place, LQ patches, we need materials to make more railgun ammo)
Repaint Salvetion in a deep green golor
Repair the laser 100 credits
Repair two reactors 2000 credits
Fix one turret 250 credits
PD laser: Size M 500 credits
Fighter repair: 100 credits
Repair main engine 1000 credits
Drop/boarding/ escape pod (10 people max): 275
Fighter railgun * 4 = 600 + something to install it on fighters ( 2 each)
Convert 20 people chamber to med bay - 500 credits
Cut all the scrap that we get in more fighter railgun shells


Plan B:Badass freighter\passenger ship

BTW civilian industrial reactors look... interesting. Does it have same size as our reactors? 2 energy for 1500 may be better than 1 energy for 1000... Power switching is not a problem as long as we have more military reactors than civilian

Also, how much cargo space we need, to store damaged reactor in a cargo bay?

AL-568 Virus Pandemic Reaches Kumat

With now more than 7 planets infected, millions having died already, and billions being affected the devastating epidemic has become a real threat to the Nation. Seeing the recent infection of the Kumat system, the alliance has decided to extend the current quarantine with 5 sectors. Million of refugees are leaving the infected planets, despite the Alliance outlawing all travel within infected systems. Massive refugee fleets have formed around the disabled jump points, and things are becoming bleak for them. Their overcrowded ships are often not meant for prolonged flights, and their supplies are running out.

With no cure in sight, the alliance can do nothing else than enforce the quarantine and prevent further infection.

"Madagascar unaffected as it shut down everything two months ago."

Plan A doesn't include a medbay.  Which is kinda important if you want to have "max combat power" because you are inevitably going to get hit.

I like plan A, but consider using solar cells instead of painting the ship dark green. Also consider cooler colors, in both senses of the word.

Solar cells is a bad option, IMO
1st  easy to damage
2nd power output is low
3rd probably expensive

BTW, guys, we are in a big station... explore it with your characters, We miss opportunities by sitting in the ship. Be creative! We need jobs\more crew\information\rare equipment

Diana gladly went to the captain in hopes to both gain some respect and find a job.  ( She will try to offer Salvation as a temporary support in their missions, if they need any. Also she try to negotiate\beg for any reward for imformatrion about pirates (Retell the story of pirates of faction A, that there are many new pirates with good equipment, tell about likely position of pirate base, tell true details about the combat with frigates. As a reward ask for something not very useful or decommissioned. Obsolete software and hardware\various scrap\personal weapons\ancient fighters\free service from the navy mechanics. All this is not valuable for the Navy  but may be a treasure for us [/I]

Modified plan A, let's start with large scale hull modifications, anything else we should  decide later ( If Diana is lucky, we may save some funds, now better what we need for a mission) All this should take long, so I ask again. find some job for your characters :)

1) Sell fuel rods and seeds + x credits
2) Sell the jump core + 1500 credits
3) Sell all minerals +1500 credits
4) Sell the shuttle* + 1250 credits (remember to unload all fuel from it)


Modifications:
1) Replace LQ patches with tedaline -800 credits
2)* Convert one docking to cargo -500 credits
3)** Fix all turrets -750
4) Repaint Salvation in whatever color (should be free)
5) Ask to give all scrap from the repairs back to us (probably free)
6)*** Repair main engine -1000 credits

We'll have  3000 credits+ for further repairs\upgrades. There are way to many ways to spend it, better not to rush with decision and generate more ideas.

*I do think that we need more cargo space than 800 that we have... and new cargo bay is a better solution than having shuttle docked... basically we get +250 cargo space and + 750 credits from sell the shuttle\convert dock bay operation.. The only minus that we lose one docking bay almost permanently...

** Even if aren't going to use them now, structural fixes are good and enemy may not now that our turrets are empty... We may put some imitation inside very easily

*** We need adequate speed for so many tasks, so I think it's absolutely necessary

Another question to the GM - Is it possible to make twin or quad fighter railguns for our turrets? 

And some additional request for the buy list

1) Hydroponic farm equipment (or anything else that can be used to produce food)
2) Hull plating producing equipment
3) Explosives producing equipment
4) Missile\engines producing equipment
5) Fighters engine upgrade\replacement
6) Not that I think that it gives us any good, but - solar cells

If we'll have that much left over, why sell the shuttle until we actually need to? I'm resigned to the fact we'll be selling it, but not if we'll have 2000credits left anyway. Keep it until we actually benefit from selling it. Perhaps we should look at the 'buy' list for a shuttle to see how much we'd have to pay for a new one.
Otherwise agree with modified plan A.

Max will explore the shipyard.

They're larger. A damaged reactor can be disassembeled, and the parts will take up 200 size units. (When a cargo room is converted to a reactor room, you get +50 size, because of crates and other stuff you throw out.)

Yes. Doubling the amounts mounts halves the max size, so a double turret mount would only be capable of carrying Small weapons, and a quad mount would only have XS weaponry.

Also, for plan B, the minerals for 1500 total, not 1250.

1) Hydroponics are quite large. Nevertheless, you should be able to convert a single cargo bay to food production ,which will be able to sustain 40 people. This will cost 750. Sadly, hydroponics, relying mainly on water and tubing, will not be easily survive being vacuumed.
2) None were found
3) Not really, though you can improvise by using fuel as an explosive. (It's a hydrogen oxygen mix, after all)
4) You can do quite a lot with the advanced tools. Getting a more complex workshop will simply require more of those. You can also find Presicion tools, costing 1250, which will take up 30 space.
5) What do you have in mind, more fuel efficiency, more stealth, ... (For most, it'll be around to order of 250). (Your fighters have 20 units of armor btw)
6) While I do have plans to allow for solar cells, their power supply is so small that it probably won't be worth noting.  (Nevertheless, cheap solar cells value at 5/ unit of hull plating)

Fuel rods and seeds will probably net you between 500-1000 credits.

It contains a variety of expensive medicine, which should allow you to heal most ailments.

It appears there has been some sort of panic run, or a disturbtion of shipping, because you can barely find any medical supplies. Nevertheless, you find out that the infected sectors are some 20 jumps away from here, way into the outer rim of the sector.

The captain is not pleased, at all. He has a lot to say about vigilant justice, endangering other civilians, and hampering the normal function of the sector policing. Nevertheless, he's content to let you go with a warning. He also informs you that should you which to aid the law enforcement, there's a signup bureau in this system.

Max will explore the shipyard.

There are actually 3 different shipyards. The military shipyard, where you are now, the real shipyard (where ships are being constructed) and one dedicated to refitting and repairing civilian vessels. You're currently docked at the first. From a map you find that it doesn't contain much civilian accesible points. There's a police station, small hospital and some other stuff. There's also a shuttle service operating, which can transport you to the 2 other shipyard.

Hm, I underestimated military conservatism. Glad that I haven't created more problems....  So, there are no reason to delay upgrades.....

One more plan: The final one

We have
2050 credits

sell
1) Minerals for 1500

( gain 4750-5250 credits. Have 6800-7300 credits)

Structural fixes\changes

I like the above. Could I rework some of the magnets in our fighters railguns (just to see if it works) and rearrange the the magnets into a coilgun, not a railgun.
