Wow,  incredible loot... I never hoped for that... 

How dangerous is changing delta V while jumping? I dislike both jumping with risk to crash into something and becoming a sitting duck under enemy fire

Also, I think it's totally impossible to install our new jumpcore that quickly?

We should interrogate prisoners, they should know what we are fighting with ( More exactly - trying to survive, until our jump drive recharges...)

BTW were the beacon leads, to Merope outer system?

Basically, all the thing is doing know is charging the capacitors, and powering up the drive. The Jump sequence will be initialized when the charge is about 50%, and from that point you'd need to maintain the exact delta-v, otherwise the jump parameters will no longer be correct, and you'd end up somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Or maybe the jump field loses integrity and you'd end up in the middle of nowhere, and in pieces.

It's just a jumpcore. These are expensive drive systems, Ie the heart of every jump system, but sadly won't help you. What you'd need are extra jump capacitors(which don't really defer much from normal capacitors) and calculation systems.

Yes, it does. It gets you into the outer system. The MMC erected a small temporary headquarters there, so you'll be able to dock there.

that said moving is not delta v but v. only when you are using engines then there is a non-zero relative delta v.

We are talking a zero gravity situation, of course, which might or might not apply here.

Yup, moving is fine for Jump calibration, changing your course or speed is not. It's just that a single jumpfield calibration is only correct for a certain point in space, at a certain speed. For the computer, it's easy to run ahead and predict where you'll be when your moving, but these predictions become false when you change speed or heading. It's near-impossible to modify a jump sequence that's running, and you can't slow it down or pause it without risking instability or equipment damage, so dodging around really isn't an option.

On a more serious note though, let's go with docking our redrocket and send a fighter to radio and see how far off our enemies are. Maybe we can put some of that ammo to use, just enough to hold them off to dock our fighter and skate out of here.

Way to many risks, from getting the fighter shot down to leaving it behind. Sadly I see no other solution than to  be a sitting duck and endure some damage

Besides, the enemy could obstruct your light of sight.

That being said, you could try to dodge in place, and end up as the same position. The Jump field is roughly based on 3 parameters.

As long as it isn't obstructed by a thing like a Pirate vessel, Yes.
