i didnot see the pirates... do we have any spare weapons we can put onto the asteroids? if so then crossfire. also, are any of our shuttles armed? if not, can they power a weapon we stick on a asteroid?

I think

1) Fighters should hide behind some asteroid, their goal is to deliver a punch to big ships. Besides one of them is low on fuel so should avoid unnecesarry manuevirig
2) We should position ourself near one of the PD freighters, because we lack  PD
ourself and I expect some missiles sent in our way.
3) Get ready to meet frigates with our lasers when they are in range

suggest that to allies:

4) Smaller ships go inside mining bases
5) Those 3 mining bases gather around the second PD ship, and get ready to shoot at least to distract the enemy
6) Red Rocket should aid them in PD defense
7) Merc can do whatever he thinks is best

Going inside the asteroid might be a good idea.  It should block missiles heading for us.  How fast are the asteroids moving, if they are?

No, just us.  It would be cover.  I'm assuming they are safe to maneuver around them if they are mined.

I also missed the impending combat.

Send over a message noting that we are armed and will blow them out of the belt if they don't surrender. Advise freighter to hide behind an asteroid or something.

They don't. Not really anyway. They mostly just hop from asteroid to asteroid in fields. They just look a bit like flies. The song is a mystery, it's mostly low frequency noise, but quite beautifull. There's not much known information about them really. (I do have some info, including evolutionary links avaible).

so... IS there any way to get heavy weapons on asteroids w/ power so we have some more areas to fight from? and also, do we have any hand-held weapons? if so, i claim one. then imgonna jump out a airlock and slowly float towards them. with explosive.

You miss these things:
     -Heavy weaponry to install
     -Portable powersource
     -Time
You do have a small arsenal of personal weaponry, but no explosives, sadly.
