The central governement is quite enthousiastic about hiring a Cruiser for their militia. So happy that they'd even let you choose between a variety of missions. The Outer rim systems are noted for having a severe pirate and smuggling problem, and they'd very much like to deal with it. The Vanguard system is mostly troubled by solitary freelancing pirates, each of which has 500 credit bounty.
The Libertitas side of the system has a much more serious pirate problem. The pirates have managed to take control of several farther out systems. The governement wants you to take out their central asteroid base. You'd have some decent support during this mission, and will be paid well.

Aequitas has it's own, different problems. After the fall of the Confederation, the Rim broke up in multiple powerhouses, each granted some autonomy, which they mostly waste by fighting amongst themselves. Here, the border conflicts have caused the formation of a lawless noman's land, in which a black market is flourishing. Obviously, the governement wants you to infiltrate it and shut it down. This last mission is quite easy, but you won't have any governemental support.

There's also a heap of civilian missions. While most are not economical for a cargoship your size, several are interesting. They have been added to the mission log below.

((I ponder the possibility of setting up a suggestion game where you play the colonists. Probably not going to do it))

Ask government if they can assist us in repairing our main engine. If we gonna hunt on solitary pirates or smugglers (I think it has the best risk\reward ratio) , then we need some speed. Same thing apply to reactors

And what should we do with the AI?

I agree for asking the government to repair as much as we can persuade them to.
I have no idea about the AI though. What's the selling price?

Oh, and it's not like we ask to repair ourself for free. We can pay, some haggling is an option, of cause

As for AI, we need a PC to upload it...
I'd prefer to isolate him on some minor system that we can live without. Or just on uncconected part of our system, temporary reducing it's quality

We  need to negotiate server or two from the government or black market

And selling AI... Are you  mad guys? He will provide huge bonuses if we upload him in main system, targeting and so on

AI's are people too, you know.
Agreed. Also, they're very rare. There's probably no market price.

I suggest we purchase some PC which is separate from the ship's systems and which can run the AI. Then, I will speak with it. Starting with idle chitchat, like what it likes to call itself, favored gender pronouns, various historical events we're both familiar with.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

The official seems uneasy at your request for repairs, and then evades the question by saying that they have nor the resources, nor the facilities to do such a thing. The availability of computer systems is also strangely low, so you decide that you will consider their offers and go check out the black market for goods, and possibly jobs.

The black market is teeming with life and people. A few ships appear to be circling the perimeter, guarding it from pirates, but apparently there's little to none governement regulation. You reason this is caused mainly by the fact that this is indeed contested area, and that neither House wants to provoke the other into starting a war, as they both can't support one.

Contact with the AI doesn't reveal much. You tried to give it a view of the surroundings, by sending it some visual information, but the images of The Prodistum system, especially New Thebe, apparently shocked it. It also, and repeatedly asked you not to sell it. Understandably, considering it's a fully selfaware being.

((Oh, if you want to add an extra system, go look for it or make it yourself))

HQ resources cheaper than MQ? I think it's a typo

Shopping  list: ( or rather learn prices list)

1) I think we should try to look for 4th turret, preferably a fully automated one, so we could unload the whole AI in it later, replacing it's software ( bonus if we buy it without software, cheaper)
2) Failing that, buy computers and make fully automated turret out of our quad railgun one.
3) Look for new reactor(s) or way to repair existing reactors
4) Try to find a price for our dissembled military grade reactor... maybe it's not worthless here
5) I'd consider selling poltergeist missiles, they can cost quite a lot here. 2 Zephyrus Orbit to air missiles are good candidates for sale, too. We aren't planning to bomb someone
6) Also, ask for the price of missile launchers.  We don't  need 4 of them and cruiser sized missile launcher should be quite rare on the market
7) Look for a badass weapon that can replace a missile launcher
8) Buy personal scale assault rifles

After purchases we should go hunt pirates

Hmm...not until we know we can trust the AI.

No major arguments here.

Also get a computer system to put the AI on, or components to make one.

I think we can, He should be grateful that we didn't sell him

Also, those turret could be quite easily cut off from power source, making him powerless
