From what I recall, warm, moist environments encourage biodiversity and biomass. While in the modern era it's less relevant, it won't be as much of a bad thing after everything gets done compared to how it's being made out. Anyways, it could be worse and temperatures could go the other way, where the habitable zone shrinks.

If Antaratica was ever warm enough to be like Hudson Bay or southern Scandinavia, I wonder how life would adapt to the 6 month day/night cycle.

And if humans had lived on such a warm place during cultural development, I wonder what an Antarc would be like?
