Ok is this REALLY a dragon simulator? >_<
Possibly not intentionally! But it's a pretty good one anyway, I'd say. At least comparatively so, though the field of games with a dragon as the main protagonist is somewhat, uh. Slim. Especially that isn't something like Spyro.

Still. It's one of the closest video game expressions I've personally played that manage to get a feeling of 'dragon, rawr' across, from the puny wyrmling to the towering ancient. It's fairly impressive for that, at least.

Inferno is incredible ♪

Not sure what the other colors get, though.

Just got my first win. I gota say... Most useful thing of all time? Black Dragon Orbs. Makes you invisible (and thus invincible for 12 turns.) I got there with three of them, and I only used two.

Aoes and shit seem less helpful to be honest, since there are just so many people attacking you, they will heal themselves soon away.

Yah, Black Dragon Orbs rock. I foolishly held still for most of the only one I had, thinking I'd become *not invisible* by attacking (standard to AD&D mechanics). This isn't so - everyone stands around and looks confused while you chow down on multiple people, breath weapons come from nowhere and things generally go horribly wrong - for them.

Actually they are not as uncommon as you would think.

MIND you the vast majority of the examples I can think of... the dragon is a co-protagonist who is as important to the story as the onfoot human.

Well... I guess it also depends what you define Breath of Fire as... (possibly ignoring 4)

Yeah.. I've played one dragon game where you play from a baby to adult... but WOW do they skip a HUGE section.

This game doesn't really give the feeling that you play as a dragon beyond the D instead of the @, and some relatively normal rogue-like skills with dragon-ish sounding names. (At least for me)

Unfortunetely, there are very few games with dragon protagonist's (ignoring the obvious example).

Well... I guess it also depends what you define Breath of Fire as... (possibly ignoring 4)

I think the main character is only "decended" from dragons somehow or something. My knowledge of the games has deteriorated significantly since playing them however, and I may be completely wrong. (I have no idea what happens in 4 though, as I never got very far through it).

The only "dragon eat/burn everything and everyone" i played and appreciated was Thanatos when i was young on my old cpc464

I'm not sure how it aged as i have not replayed it in decades, but if you're interested in burning , eating and destroying everything as a huge dragon, get a cpc464 or a c64 emulator and this , it was very fun in its time :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanatos_(video_game)

For Drakefire Chasm, the more i play the more it looks like the game was meant to be played with the Red Dragon, the other dragons not having any attack dealing enough damage (while the Red can) to survive later levels without insane luck.

I fired this up after a good long while and I've almost made it to the end so many times, only to die to those goddamned named adventurers. So close! And yet I can't stop, because this is a really addicting game.

That update was released back in December apparently, still an interesting little game. I do want more games where you actually play as the dragon, could make for fun times =p

For those that may be interested a Youtuber named Bormac just uploaded a couple videos of this. He seems to do a good job at stumbling through the game so I figured why not post in the thread here if there was one and oh hey look this thread exists so here is Video 1 and Video 2
