I guess I will hunker down for a bit and study my spell book for anything of interest.

replace the broken part of the ledge wall with the Lungfish body then sleep till the builders arrive or a random encounter
You replace the broken piece of the trip-ledge with the remains of the lungfish. Heck, it could work.

You wake up a few hours later to a terrible smell emanating from the lungfish, and several scavenger insects attempting to devour it. Ew.

Wait patiently until the fog disperses.
And since I know it never will. Request politely that the fog disperse, as I'm really not in the mood.

You wait for the fog to disperse, and it doesn't. The voice continues to ask you questions, sounding more and more desperate the more you wait. Eventually, you open your mouth only to request that the mist be dispersed. Oddly enough, it obliges, revealing a hooded child standing in the forest several feet in front of you. The hood is obscuring the child's face.

Take whatever handle that is, examining the thing, before taking note of the places where the squirrels may be coming from.

You take the handle and examine it. It's pretty obvious that it's a rusted old door handle which has only recently been broken away from whatever it was attached to. You then note squirrels darting to and from the various holes in the ground. Lots of squirrels.

Chain the bat up in the center between my walls
Play with my Jackalope.
Take a nap.

Spoiler: Updated cave map (click to show/hide)
You chain up the bat in your cave.

You then play fetch with your Jackalope using some branches. Much fun is had by all until nightfall, when you jump over the still-unconscious bat and go to sleep.

You wake up to a hideous screeching, presumably coming from the bat.

Wander back to my cave, after buying some food.

The general store man wants to know how much food you want to buy.

I guess I will hunker down for a bit and study my spell book for anything of interest.

You hunker down in your cave for a bit with your rotting horse corpse and death-cow. You study your spell book to find a new spell - CONTROL UNDEAD I.

"And I bet they'll all attack me. Hey squirrels, I don't want to harm you all, but stay off my land, please?"

Return to cave, ponder on what I could do to create a defensible perimeter. Any places nearby wherein I could buy tools or materials for making at least a palisade?

head to the entrance of the cave and look outside maybe I could find a ditch or something
You head to the entrance of the cave. Looking around, you see quite a bit more than a ditch - it would appear your cave exists in a large, cavernous undersea air bubble. Small holes in the rock bring oxygen down from somewhere up on the surface, resulting in a wide variety of colorful salt-tolerant life pretty much everywhere. There is a small village composed mostly of seashell buildings nearby.

Some of the nearby wildlife throws you a curious, hungry glance.

"And I bet they'll all attack me. Hey squirrels, I don't want to harm you all, but stay off my land, please?"

Return to cave, ponder on what I could do to create a defensible perimeter. Any places nearby wherein I could buy tools or materials for making at least a palisade?
You ABSCOND from the multitude of squirrels to return to your cave.

You figure that the only place you can get tools or materials short of trying to make things yourself again is in the village and/or from the builders.

Check out the noise.
If its the bat then just head outside till it shuts up.
Yup, it's the bat flipping its shit. Apparently, most animals don't enjoy waking up chained to a rock. You jump over its screeching form and head outside until it screams itself hoarse.

Buy dried meat for 15 gold.
You buy some dried meat - 3 chunks of it - for 15 gold. You get a very odd glance in the direction of your ear, but the employee at the store knows better than to question someone who looks as badass as you.

Get bearings, return to cave. Keep an eye on said hooded child.
You think you have your bearings, and begin the trek back to your cave.

The child does not appreciate this, and a ring of choking mist surrounds the two of you. Bugger.

She finally says something. "Will you not play with me?"

To the village! Try looking up architects or carpentry shops//workshops. Or woodworker places.

And find how much a reasonable axe is.

Return inside grab the lungfish corpse and drag it outside then throw it to the hungry wildlife maybe one will become my pet then head to the village looking at what the villagers look like then find a store and inquire price of bell and sign so when the builders arrive i can compare prices

Throw a stick at the evil bat.
Go outside of the cave and take a nap.

((On a completely irrelavent note, I don't think that bats actually make noises that are audible to humans))
