Wait till it starts to charge (but make sure there is enough time to cast my spell, then cast Chains of Arnak on it and sidestep to avoid it hitting me, proceed to thwack it, then put a bit of distance between us.
How far away am I from the cave?
You cast CHAINS OF ARNAK on the wolf as it charges at you. You then witness the bizarre sight of a wolf careening towards you due to inertia, wailing all the way. The two of you collide into a mess of fur and flesh, with the wolf whimpering since it can't devour you whole. Your jackrabbit bites it on the noggin, making the whimpering only increase in volume.
You are at the mouth of the cave, about... eh, 10 meters from the wall you had built.
Herbalism, try getting those which don't have any adverse effects then return to cave.
You gather an armful of plants. You are approximately 76% sure none of them are poisonous. You then return to your cave as night starts to fall.
Oh well.
I will raise a two rats and send one out to scout and the other one to be a look out for my cave.
You raise the two rats, sending one out to scout and keeping the other as... backup.
The scout rat reports that you are in a cave in a sequestered canyon. There is little besides desert as far as it can tell, although it doesn't help that night has fallen and things are difficult to see.
Hm... have the builders dig it out on the right side instead then.
Study spell tome.
You ask the builders to dig stairs on the other side of the cave. They ask for more compensation.
You study the spell tome, and find that most of the spells are either worn away by time or not of your proficiency. You do, however, see a Summon Elemental spell which catches your eye.

Cool beans, I'll put this on the waitlist in a minute or two.
I'll write up a backstory.
Some kill monsters, others merely shun them. These monsters do not always hide in the sewers or wilderness, trying to get revenge on those who wronged them. Most try to hide in towns or found societies of their own. One of the largest and most successful of the latter was Lifecave. Lifecave is a city in a massive cavern, founded by three trolls, a pack of wererats, and a vampire (or similar creatures that exist in this world, if those won't work for some reason), but is one of the few communities to allow all breeds of outcasts. Jak is the son of a half-wererat and a half-elven common thief, and has inherited a slight build from his wererat grandfather and elven grandmother. He also has slightly pointed ears and teeth as well as an affinity for rats and, to a lesser extent, other animals. Mostly, though, Jak became a trader. His normal appearance--if he wore his hooded leather cloak, which he always did--and empty record allowed him free passage to the world above, without even showing up as abnormal to any but the most powerful spells. He bought goods from the surface world and sold them to those in Lifecave.
One day, the "normals" found Lifecave.
No one knows how or why, but they did.
They came flooding in through the side doors--entrances to Lifecave that lead to tombs, sewers, basements. Every "monstrous" being within was either killed or driven off. Jak was left with a few friends and allies, barely anything except his trusty old cloak and a silver dagger one of his first customers gave him for an amulet worth several times the dagger's value, a reminder of the value of knowledge in the marketplace and elsewhere. One by one, Jak's companions were hunted, until only Jak and his closest friend, Grechen, a half-goblin swordswoman, were left. Finally, even she was killed, sending Jak into a depression.
Eventually, a strange man came up to Jak and gave him a job offer he couldn't refuse. It offered a good pay, something to live for, and most importantly a place for other rejects from society to call home.
And I'll put this in your waitlist description as well.
