The forgotten... err ... Peasant?
« on: September 14, 2012, 05:09:06 pm »

The Peasant Lor Mengosust Aderib Unnos has come!
A short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry.

What the hell?
Game paused, and lo and behold, a peasant appears. He shows under "others" as "friendly".
He is not part of the migrant wave that came a second later...

What did just happen here?

Studpidest thing ever. imo.  Wish werebeasts popped in with migrant wave and then morphed, killed, morphed, ran... unless you get um before they run away.

It's a werebeast who turned back into a dwarf.
Technically, a werebeast that isn't in its...time of month.

What a horrifying thought that is.

He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

Wild Werebeasts skedaddle when not in animal form.

I like them this way. It's clear the "werebeast" actually doesn't want to be in your fort. So it should make sense that in the 2 days it's in a cursed and wretched frenzy, it should ambush a woodcutter or a fisherdwarf, pass the curse and then begin fleeing guiltily.

but too often ^this^ happens.  They pop in and back out.  They don't even take up residence nearby to troll you!

Maybe because they don't want to go around mauling people to death? Besides, all it takes is one bite gone unnoticed in your fort, doubly so worse if it happens in the hospital...

If you turn into a monster every month, would you rather hide on the outskirts of an area that wants to kill you or directly within a community that you don't know if the inhabitants will kill you horribly or capture and use you?

They wouldn't know you're a monsta.  until you did the monster mash on their faceparts.  Why would he even bother popping on by if he was truely scared?
