If we can't build walls to protect ourselves, we must find a better place to live.

Also, if we can't build even walls or houses and we can't choose what stuff we want to research, well, it get's annoying. Especially since we need to justify settling down and don't understand agriculture,

He has a point Dragor, the only actions we can do now are basically
A) get stick, do hunt, bring meat
B) Laze our asses around and do nothing
C) get rock, get bigger sticks ....

I didn't say you won't choose what stuff you research ever. But you don't even have a society yet.
Also you could hunt this slenderman... Scout the area more than the three hills and the river and the nearby forest...

(Also a wall against a slenderman is... total useless?)

But we can't choose now, which means that we could get the vital skills of agriculture and masonry next turn or some time after figuring out atlatls, polytheism, and animal husbandry. And if we were nomadic, how would we not know the area?
And there's only one slenderman?

Send a party of five armed with spears to hunt the slendermen, we shall let none live whp harms the tribe!
Send four men to gather lumber.
Send one man armed with a spear to scout the surrounding area and bring back a better description of what the lands hold.
Have others dig a hole about three paces wide, and three paces deep. Line it with stones we gather from nearby, and feel in the cracks with mud before storing the food inside to protect from thieves/predators

Don't worry, Azthor and me have a tech tree... More or less. It's just how the dice fall.

And maybe? You don't know for sure...

I only know about the Mine craft and SCP versions of the slendermen, and not even much about those.

Still no one take my toolmaking suggestion seriously.

Our best chance of surviving is pumping out more tools, so no one will sit idle again.

Evilcherry is ultimately right, in that collectors are the least efficient form of food gathering, but they do serve a major purpose at this point in the game. As for agriculture, use your ingenuity, what is the activity most closely related to agriculture you can currently have your people perform?

Masonry would be quite the technological leap, mind you, so you shouldn't expect stone walls anytime soon. You'd have to discover how to create mortar to bind the stones together, and that is only for starters.

Finally, since you seem to have missed it, remember that you can only fish with spears, but can hunt with either clubs or spears.

How about wood-and-or-mud walls?

How about wood-and-or-mud walls?

You'd need Carpentry for wooden walls. I could allow mud walls, with the due requirments, if you can give me an example to work on. Though mud huts do exist, I am only acquainted with walls made of mud bricks, which'd require masonry.

So here's the plan.

3/4 continue logging and chunk out usuable wood. Not only for fire, but for toolmaking.
8 go hunting. 5 take clubs, others spears and knives. If a morale boost is needed, head for the slenderman.
4 go fishing.
3 should use the knives to make tools. We can make what we can make currently. Ideally more spears clubs and knives.
Others just gather food. Try to make a list and categorize what is being gathered. If anything is useful, looks useful, or whatever, take note (mentally) of that.

p.s. Rammed earth should work with our current level of technology. Build a wood frame, pour mud/wet soil, and apply pressure. But transporting mud is another matter...

You can't lump mud into bigger-than-hut-sized walls? Do whatever you do with mud huts, but make it bigger.

Though building mud walls in the same way you would build a hut wouldn't work, rammed earth walls are a good, if labour intensive, option. Regardless, as is, both are beyond your people's comprehensionm; not only you'd need basic Carpentry for the wooden frame and the planks used in the press, your people see no purpose in pressing a bunch of earth together, nor should you.

We make tech discovery rolls for most of your actions, and you will know once your people have become capable fo something new, so don't bother rushing things along. Keep in mind that not scouting the region does limit your people's learning potential, as they are exposed to less phenomenas.
