Space Sandbox (Nov 21, 2012)
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:02:18 pm »

Dear friends! I hope to introduce my game - Space Sandbox. You are the mind of swarm. Control it and eat all around you. Swarm has prototypes - Zergs (Starcraft) and Tyranids (Warhammer 40k). Peoples are the first enemies of our swarm.

Alpha version review (old version without textures, Russian voice) here

Latest version (with textures and sound):
http://webfile.ru/6227496

Platforms: Win, Web
Future platforms: Mac, iOS, Android

Controls: mouse + scroll, drag swarm into planet or space. You can drop your units on planet surface and build capillary towers. Do not drop all of your space units on planet.

Thank you for attention :)

Not trying, for pure contempt that the creator could not be arsed to come up with any unique names and just plucked them off starcraft and 40k.

Actually i think thats a bad translation as im playing the game and its more like The Game of Life but you control where the swarm goes

theres little blue base cannons on the planets
and you click+drag to move the swarm, then use arrows that appear on planets when you get there

I've just watched a few seconds of the video.  I'm not a big fan of the little information posted, but if it's what it looks like in the video this game could be pretty fucking awesome.

click on the flying ones and drag them to another, once they stop flying they can never fly again.  So you really need to manage how many land

Could anyone put together some clear instructions of how to play?  Nothing works, I can't move the camera around.  I know how to move my swarm but without that I'm just watching red triangles fly offscreen.

Here's how it works:

Step one: Drag swarm to planet.
Step two: Find area with trees, water, open space and no enemies. (mountains cannot be crossed, so they provide good cover)
Step three: Click the red down arrow on a suitable segment of the planet to make your ships land there. Turn it of as soon as one or two ships have landed, since landed ships cannot get back into space.
Step four: Wait while your little cube drones eat the vegetation and multiply. Once you have enough, tell them to build a tower.
Step five: Once the tentacle reaches its max length, the cubes will use it to carry water from the planet into space, where your swarm will drink it and grow in size.
Repeat this process until you have conquered the universe. Use your increased size to overwhelm the little blue turrets.

Camera controls are barely there at all. The only way to move the camera that I know of is by zooming out and zooming in again. The zoom centers on the cursor.
