Is there still space on the waitlist? If so, I'd like to be James the Technician, skilled in creation and repair of electronics.

Shall I mark that down as Genetic Fuckery, then?
Sounds good.

Oh, and requesting Tlaxloq to lend me his bird in advance. I want to genetically engineer dog qualities into it so it can help capture wild animals so Tlaxloq can lend me more animals to experiment on. Though if I fail to get that syringe then I probably won't be mutating any animals next turn.

Can't really do that; inventory items don't give bonuses to skills. You could mess with the dinosaur if you like (with LAAT's permission) but it wouldn't be able to help him hunt.

Fortis has dropped out, so TherosPherae needs to post an action before I update.

peglegpenguin laid claim to the iron and glass first. You'll need to do something else.

Phew, I am alive!

Gather plants
65
64
4

The plants on this world are very strange. They only look and feel half-solid, and trying to put any pressure on them feels like trying to force opposing magnets together. You think this bears investigating, and (with some difficulty) uproot a nearby bush to take back and study.
+65 Herb Gathering EXP
+1x ethereal orange-berry bush !base influence 121!

Exploratron 9000 will engage his Map-Smithing module to smith one of the warped steel plates and four of the glass pebbles into a map of the previous world, with the glass inlaid to represent points of intrest.
93
46
63

You access your memory banks, attempting to map what you explored three days ago. You've barely begun, however, when the metal plate you're working on sparks violently, somehow triggering a surge of information from an unknown source. You black out temporarily, and when you awaken you have a complete map of an enormous spaceship, studded with glass dots to mark important locations. How strange.
+93 Cartography EXP
-4x glass pebbles [2*4]
-1x warped steel plate [29]
+1x steel plate spaceship map [127]

I suppose you can use a craft action to try to make the animal hatch from the egg?
Craft(Hatch) an animal out of one egg.
18

Somehow you don't think you're going to hatch this egg by sitting on it. You decide to come back to it later when you think of something else to try.
+18 Animal Breeding EXP

Kain wishes to see if this world has metal so...

Gather Metal.
27

You wander the translucent woodland for hours, looking for some sign of metal, perhaps left here by former inhabitants. However, try as you might, you cannot find any evidence that anything more technologically advanced than perhaps a small dog has ever set foot in this forest. Furthermore, it's eerily silent. Not even birdsong, though you can see shapes that might be birds in the high branches. Tired and unnerved, you return to the ship empty-handed.
+27 Metal Gathering EXP

Go locate some animals. I need meat!
25

There appears to be no sign that any living being has ever set foot in this world. You think you see something moving out of the corner of your eye on several occasions, but each time it turns out there's nothing there. The dark blurred shapes in the distance remain distant, no matter how far you move towards them, and the maybe-birds in the high trees manage to just barely escape your sight every time you look. You return to the ship with nothing.
+25 Animal Capture EXP

I am the mad scientist Professor Bastardane. I specialize in crimes against nature. For my first turn I will combine some of the ship's glass and iron dowels to create a syringe.

And I suggest reserving the last spot for Willsauce, since (s)he died immediately.

Edit: Gender = male.
62
9
86

Taking the iron dowels and chunks of glass from the ship's hold, you set to work making an almost comically large syringe. However, you're still rather groggy from your recent hibernation, and the quality of your work suffers as a result. The glass is warped and the needle is blunt, and it may well break if you exert enough pressure to actually inject anything with it.
+62 Medical Science EXP
-4x iron dowel [15*4]
-18x glass pebbles [2*18]
+1x shoddy large syringe [141]

Oh. Darn.

James: Go grab some branches then.
66
51
41

Strangely, the trees don't appear to have dropped any leaves or branches any time recently. Recently possibly being applicable o any time in the last century. The grass appears to be growing straight out of the rock, instead of soil. Not seeing any branches to collect, you launch yourself up to the treetops and OH GODS

You wake up under a pile of branches with a splitting headache and a feeling of intense dread. You grab your spoils and hightail it back to the Ark.
+66 Wood Gathering EXP
+7x ethereal branches (about 2m long) !base influence 26 each!

Well, at least I succeeded in making my syringe. I can upgrade it later, I guess, but for now equip it. I assume that's a free turn. After that, gather some twigs, preferably the kind sturdy enough to make lancets out of later. I'm really just trying to grind my medical science skill up.

I'm not sure you understand quite how this game works. You cannot equip items. The only skill boosts you can get are from purchased equipment (at 500 Influence per piece) and levels. In fact if you were making the syringe just to use it on other living things, you didn't even need to do that; with your powers you can just inject things directly.

This looks all kinds of nifty.

Wait, so if I wanted to cut a tree down, it would do me just as much good to use an axe as it would to karate chop it? There isn't a roll penalty for karate chopping a tree down? Oh well, I'm still ineffectually equipping the syringe, if only because it is fitting. Then I'll change my turn to gathering plant dna with my mind.

You could chop it down with your mind. You could chop it down with another tree. Hell, you could chop it down with your genitals if you really felt the need to.

Exploratron 9000 wishes to explore this world. Before doing so, however, he decides to correct the ship's woeful lack of metal by releasing 5 metal sheets to the ship's inventory, along with a note saying, "Please take one only."
