waterskin with murky water
« on: September 11, 2012, 06:23:41 pm »

Hi Dwarfmasters

Q1 I filled my waterskin with murky water. I can not drink it.
How do I empty my waterskin?

Q2 Where can I find more waterskins? I know that I can buy them.

Thanks!

You need to Drop the water the same as any other item. If you drop any water from a waterskin you will empty the whole thing.

Interesting side point. If you have a partially full waterskin with clean water, and you add some stagnant water to it, the whole thing becomes unpotable, even it will still say water (2) and stagnant water (1) lol which makes sense IRL, but in DF with discrete water 'items' i didn't expect it.

I'm not sure if waterskins show up in stores. but if they do check in a town for any shop that might sell leather goods.

In general backpacks and waterskins seem to only show up as rare loot. Sometimes you can find them in fortreses, dungeons, tombs and such.

you only ever need one waterskin right now, when it gets empty (only one water left) just drop the water on the ground, you can refill your waterskin from the puddle and it will be full again. though i expect that to get fixed sometime in the future. you can also drink from the puddle to your hearts content

No, I've held more than 10 units in a quiver, so I always use them instead of waterskins.

IIRC, Waterskins hold 3, Flasks hold 10, quivers hold 20, bags hold 50 and backpacks hold 200.

I would assume not. Water coverings seem to always be clean fresh water.

For example you can take a dip in a murky pool and then drink the water off your body, while your character would refuse to drink directly from the pool. I assume it would work with salt water too.
