You break the bed into a matress and its wooden frame, you dont have any leverage to break the frame or take it apart, and nothing to cut open the matress cover.

Use the leg to break the bed, and use a chunk of drywall to cut the matress into smaller pieces.

Using the leg you break a board out of the bed's support planks, but the drywall is not hard enough to cut the matress's fabric cover.
