Can you remove a natural slope?
« on: September 11, 2012, 04:22:21 pm »

I'm trying to turn a natural hill into a marksdwarf post and would like to remove the slope up to the top, creating a sheer cliff face that blocks access by enemies (the marksdwarves themselves will come up stairs from underneath the hill). Is this possible? I don't see anything on the designation to remove the slope, and I can't seem to mine or channel away the slope either. Thanks!

It is possible, using the "Mine" -> "Remove Ramps" option.

Note that you cannot designate slopes on the map edge for removal. There is an alternative, however: you can construct floors (b-C-f) on top of these map-edge slopes, which will destroy them. You can then remove (or not) the floors and the slopes will remain gone.

Argh! I don't know why that was the one option I didn't try. Thanks!
