Miners in the dark. Sloppy workmanship.
« on: September 10, 2012, 12:17:00 pm »

It is dark, down here. Small red lamps do little to dispel the shadows. The only real source of light are the crystals you mine, but their light fades as soon as your pickaxe strikes them.
Chains are wrapped around your legs. Sometimes you are moved from one tunnel to another. Some tunnels have beds. Some tunnels have food.

Primitive ventilation systems supply the tunnels with air. Automated carts riding their little rails carry away the shattered crystals.

There are other miners, sometimes. They all look the same to you.

You cannot remember your name. You cannot remember sunlight. You cannot remember freedom.

There is no way to escape.

You are forever trapped.

What do you do.

RTDing it up. Just post an action to join. I'll cut it off around six.

Also, I'm a rebel. Be prepared.

Examine what are the chains bound to.

Find a new source of light...This candle is almost out...
[4] You can't remember where the lights come from. You stare at it as it dims, and finally winks out, leaving you in total darkness. [2] You stumble in the dark, and bang your leg against a sharp rock. Blood gushes from the wound. You will die from your injuries.

Examine what are the chains bound to.
[1] You look down at your chains. Suddenly lights flare behind your eyes and you fall over. You wake up some time later, head pounding. Partly because of your inexplicable fainting, partly because you are being dragged through the tunnels by your chains, and the back of your head has been dragging along the rocky floor for some time. You can hear a ghastly scraping noise, which, you suppose, must be your bare skull against the rock.
Thinking about the injury causes the pain to register. It is terrible. You are reminded that there is no way to escape. You will probably die from your injuries.

Look around and try to figure out my surrounding.
[7] You look around. A wave of nausea hits you, but you hold onto the wall until it stops.
You are in a rocky tunnel, dimly illuminated by red lights. The floor is covered in dust and loose rock. Metal rails jut up through the dust, clanking occasionally. [9] There are four rails; two in the center carry the carts back and fourth. The other two hold the chains. You try to examine the connection between the chains and the track, but the nausea returns, more violently, and you give up.

Grab a crystal from a nearby cart and examine that.
[10] You grab a crystal from a cart. The cart shudders and stops, wheels screeching against the tracks, fighting some unseen force.
[6] The crystal is just like all the others. A glassy shard, which appears red beneath the lights. You have no idea what its true colour is.

I'll go to six, so still plenty of space left, yeah. No worries. Even more in the event of INEVITABLE fatalities.

Get rags and bandage self. Try not to die.
[8] The chains stop dragging and you pull yourself upright. You are beside a bed. You tear a strip from the blanket and bandage your head. [6] This only makes it hurt more, but at least it isn't bleeding as much.

Pocket(?) the crystal and jump into the cart.
[9] You hesitate briefly, then put the crystal in your pocket and clamber into the cart. The cart starts moving again. [9] It is somewhat uncomfortable.

DEVOUR ROCK
[2] You break some teeth on a rock. You spit them out and suck on your bloody gums.

Call out to any neighbors.  Attempt to elicit response.
[5] You call out, but there is no response but the echo of your voice and the clank of machinery. [?] A cart rumbles past. A wave of nausea hits you, and you turn back to work.

Get back to work.

Right, that's enough.

Stats, inventory, etc, are a privilege to be earned. Get back to work.
