I say one entrance that could allow a wagon in without too much trouble. We need a system of full open/closing, like a floodgate or bridge.

I agree, but for right now we need to deal with skeletal moosemen or whatever, not worry about the permanent plan. I mean, the current walls are made of dirt or something, aren't they? That's hardly a permanent solution.

ROUND 8 - A NEW HOPE




Gamur starts harvesting the fully grown plump helmets. The ground seems to be rather fertile, for he has never seen ones that big.



Gobo erects the 3 totems he made next to the impaled goblin. He thinks that it will scare off invaders.
He positions himself to watch for suspicious activities.



Lobram still churns out mechanisms. Also a cage seems to have been made.



Datan, Inod and Dariush fell and work on the trees together.
Donut finishes another big stretch of the defense and the spikes have already been installed.



Gamur shears both llamas and milks the female one.
He fears that they might freeze to death now.

Give every able-bodied dwarf a weapon and Donut his pick and have them defend against the mosemen when they get here.

Signal the traders to watch out for them, too.

As for the llama's, bringing them inside can help for the moment. Don't think there's much fodder around though. (Do llamas eat leaves?)

Anyway , I propose to construct a drawbridge in the Southern entrance, and another one in the NE entrance.

Um, right , trade goods. I don't like giving away our totems, but we could probably make some wood figurins, I suppose.

I will refer to a simplified trading system

2 points for raw resources (wood/stone/etc)
5 Points for every tool/weapon/craft/furniture (copper/wood/bone), 10 for iron
5 Points for 1 barrel food
5 Points for 1 barrel of booze
5 Points for small animals (dog, cat, chicken etc), 10 for large (horse, cow, llama etc)

There will be some variation and this doesn't take item quality and more valuable items into account
You don't really have any of these yet, but there's always room for negotiation
Also you can only trade stone if you processed them into blocks first
So this will probably be my way of limiting your stone supply, since all buildings will now need either processed wood or stone blocks

I also skipped the expedition leader thing a bit, Donut still thinks that he should be in charge.
You can choose a dwarf that should do the trading, but you can still do this next round once the caravan has arrived.

You can also feed the llamas your plant material, which will use up 1 plant llama/round
Dogs and cats pretty much feed themselves

Also please don't forget to tell which material to use for building

Why would a counterweight bridge be hard to lower? Add weight - bridge raises, remove weight - bridge lowers, no? In any case I propose to create a backup dorf/animal-power solution.

I meant that the counterweight should weight more than the bridge, so that it can close fast, at the expense of being a bit harder to open.

They were right outside of the gate last turn. Donut digs faster than they can move.
