While I guess it would sorta depend of how much elaboration goes into whatever Jorn writes about, for the sake of simplicity we'll just say that he'd be able to jot down the info of 3-5 more curses/summonings/whatever before reaching any really dangerous level of blood loss.

Coal/Charcoal works nicely. Getting it isn't hard neither, long as there's wood and the ability to make fire.
