Human Fortress

Think about it: you can make a fortress anywhere now. That, and DFs wonderfull modability, will open incredible possibilities. Perhaps a human settlement on a plain full of horses, wich lives on selling leather to traders?

As long as I can build walls of bone and towers of skulls Ill be happy.
A human civilization could easily be based around elephants, the herd provides defence, food and trade goods, if you could ride them and have wagons you could have a great time, Dwarf fortress 3: Dwarf Elephant Raiders

Dwarf elephant raiders...the natural order of things is elephants raiding DWARFS!.
Things as sacred as that need to stay.

I have been playing Ultima 7 again lately and can't wait recreating Britannia in DF :P So many new possibilities in the next version, it blows my mind.

Such things are indeed planned in the bloats. Human fortress, elf forest, goblin cavern.

I'm looking forward to destroying the world of men as goblins though.

I prefer Human Castle, in order to not repeat the name for any two races.

And I've been enjoying playing with my little custom mod of Drow elves. I've also been struggling with the many quirks I unknowingly gave them (they refuse to raise cats, dogs, and cows. I immediately have a defense problem).  :D

That's a pretty easy thing to sort out - their entity listing is missing [COMMON_DOMESTIC_PET]

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Yeah, I've since compared the MOUNTAIN listing and my DROW one and found things like that, but I've already grown attached to the fortress I've made with these guys. Besides, it's REALLY nice not dealing with cats, and it seems my drow aren't bothered by vermin (or at least it seems that way so far?). I haven't taken a look at all of their profiles looking for that though.

I'm planning on making humans playable and building an Egyptian culture in the desert with huge stone Pyramids. Only problem I foresee is surface nile farming...

Toady's name since day one has been "Human Town".

The reason I named the thread "Human Fortress", is because I was talking about the possibilities of modding the raws and creating a human settlement using only wood. But I think the dwarves will keep us occupied enough for quite som time.
