What kind(s) of problems? Part of a trading caravan pathing to 1 depot, the other half to a 2nd?
Pretty much. You end up with a caravan that gets stuck in the "unloading" phase, meaning they never trade and never leave; making them just sit at the various depots until some of them get killed.

Wagons can go up and down ramps, so if you want to put it inside your fort, i suggest the first few levels of your fort can be accessed by ramps. Use channel to make a slit around 3-5+ length and 1 thick this is enough for a wagon to proceed to the level below.

I just found a barrel which contained a wheelbarrow. Inside the wheelbarrow was another barrel. I don't even understand how that is possible.
