Admittedly my interaction modding is lacking, but I'm pretty sure you can make it like a cast spell so there is no vapor to freeze. And not including a IT_AFFECTED_CLASS should mean any creature could be targeted.

Hm. But what if the creature got you first?

Hm. But what if the creature got you first?

Then you would be dead (or as good as dead).

:P Then it seems the interaction isn't foolproof. If you could give it to a creature that unleashes a dust, which is solid and therefore wouldn't freeze, upon death, that does what the interaction gives it...
Eh, let's stick to creatures. :/

On the contrary, interactions are probably going to be the main thing here.  That's where all the interesting coding is...

Interactions with no SYN_AFFECTED_CLASS will affect all creatures, class or no class.  They can be blocked only by making the creature immune to that syndrome's effect (NONAUSEA, NOSTUN, NOPAIN etc.)

Inorganic creatures aren't actually immune to syndromes, but if they don't have blood or vascular tissues they won't bleed (naturally) and I suppose that if their materials don't have the [ROTS] tag, they won't rot from necrosis, which would explain why necrosis syndromes don't affect normal creatures' bones.

And yes, there is a defense against transformations: give the creature an interaction that transforms it into its own species.  Transformed creatures can't be transformed again.

Right, so this is no longer a contest of strength, and more a contest of who can get the better interaction?

Seems like for a lot of the interactions each creature is going to need them to be able to stand a chance. For instance your creature is going to need to be able to buff all of its stats and debuff all of the enemies.

How about we consider certain interactions off-limits? Transformations come to mind...

Right, so no transformations or insta-death interactions, agreed?

Those are ridiculously unfair, and while we like some unfairness, this is a tournament. :/

Right, so this is no longer a contest of strength, and more a contest of who can get the better interaction?

It wouldn't be very interesting otherwise, would it?  Just make a max-size, max stats, SPEED:0 slademantine blob with a high-velocity body-based edge attack and it's game over.  (I did that once.  It's fun to watch it paint the arena with herds of elephants).

Yeah, this is definitely going to be an interactions game.  Unless you can find a way to defend against all interactions with strength alone.

I know that a lot of people have trouble with interactions, but this will be a good learning opportunity for beginners, and a good way to come up with new ideas for experts.

For instance, let's see you come up with a transformation or insta-death interaction that I can't find a way to stop.  There are ways...

Ok. So I just make you unliving, and so technically 'dead'.

"The strongest interaction" is even more boring than that.

So, here's what my rules would be for this:

1. No single-part bodies. If it can't have something cut off, it's not good.
2. Must be at least killable. Simple.
3. No [SPEED:0]. That's too easy.
4. Interactions that transform enemies are out.

For instance, let's see you come up with a transformation or insta-death interaction that I can't find a way to stop.  There are ways...

Code: [Select]
[INTERACTION:TRANSFORM_ENEMY_P]
 [I_SOURCE:CREATURE_ACTION]
[I_TARGET:A:CREATURE]
 [IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_CREATURE]
 [IT_MANUAL_INPUT:victim]
[I_EFFECT:ADD_SYNDROME]
 [IE_TARGET:A]
 [IE_IMMEDIATE]
 [SYNDROME]
  [CE_BODY_TRANSFORMATION:START:0]
  [CE_CREATURE:BADGER:MALE]

That could easily be technically 'negated' by having the target be a badger, but not stopped.
