Lets set up a campaign.
« on: September 08, 2012, 11:32:54 am »

It could be World of Darkness, D&D, shadowrun, warhammer 40k, whatever takes your fancy. I'm gunning for the former, but i'm more then willing to explore anything else you can throw at me. Online of course, once we have some GM's come forward we can vote for the setting and times, and lets try as soon as possible. I have a feeling that many of you are or could be excellent gm's or players, so let give it a shot shall we? :D.

I would like to play world of darkness, but I can't GM not enough time ( I did GM paranoia trying to sort out so I can again ) but right now I can only be a player and even that's restricted for me :P

Depending on who you get as players and GM I am interested in this since all my games have started to crumble away. I gota see if the game I am GMing is done for... But I probably won't be up to GMing a game myself since I don't have a story to tell.

Edit: Admittedly it's sorta strange that you started this without a GM. But whatever.

Noob to RPGs, or Noob to RPGs based on forums like this?

If you find a GM (that's always the hard part!) I'd be happy to join you in most any setting. I have D&D books and the core Shadowrun book, but I wouldn't be averse to picking up something I don't have if it's to play something interesting.

Would it be some type of forum game (as in posting on the forums to play) or through a program like Maptools or Roll20? I assume the latter, since I imagine trying to play a tabletop RPG through a forum would be difficult - but you never know.

Well, i'd presume it would a third party at specific dates and times, as forum games are a  bit slow for me.

Hopefully with as many people as the gm, or better gm's, can handle.

Dark Heresay would be my personal choice, as well as the fact that I feel I am familiar enough with rules and lore that I could GM, or partial GM but it would be my first time as such,

Consider yourself potentially hired :D. would you be prepared to incorporate other 40k rpgs? I'm completely fine with it if you don't, but if we could include some space marines and rogue traders that would certainly be interesting.

I've got all the rule books for DW and RT, so I can certainly read-as-requested to incorporate whatever the players want.  I usually find Death watch to get a bit overly... bloody, it doesn't leave a lot of wiggle room in stories.  Rouge trader is certainly my second priority over dark heresay, and I could definitely run a game of that with no problem.  Now while I do have a few of the Book Campaigns, most people find them rather lacking so I am willing to try and write up a campaign but it would take me some time as well as knowledge of what the characters will be.

Otherwise count me down for GM'ing any Wh40k that we can get the players for.

I can certainly run Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader. Black Crusade, Only War and Shadowrun also rather good options, although I don't recommend letting me close to GMing a Shadowrun game, I barely got being a mage down as it is.

As for writing up a campaign, I say don't! Improvisation is going to be needed because, well, players are a fickle thing. Just remember to have good flow, as I say.

Yeah I usually end up improvising a lot as well.  I meant more about writing the initial missions and plant details.
