So it turns out this one language bar near Ikkebukuro does this thing on Fridays where you pay 2,000 yen ($21-ish) and then it's ALL YOU CAN DRINK?!? HOLY FUCKING SHIT

...and then it took me 2 hours to get home and my drunk wore off. And I've already spent $20 on alcohol today. So... no turn today.
But I may (for other reasons) be moving closer to that place at the start of next month, so, maybe on another friday.

Step 1: Memorize the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets.
Step 2: Memorize this in its entirety
Step 3: Google a thing called Memrise, it'll learn you some diction
Step 4: Find someone who speaks fluent Japanese, and bribe them with food to let you speak terrible Japanese at them on a regular basis until you suck less.

Once you speak Japanese poorly, you can listen to TV shows or animes or other people talking or whatever, and learn to speak Japanese better.

As for learning how to read, FIIK, even Japanese people think Kanji is hard.
