It really depends on the person. i've seen sleep deprived posts in the earlier drunkfort days that weren't really as amazing, and i've seen some that were not even distinguishable to drunk posts.

There's always the risk of just falling asleep and goofing the whole year that way.

I've seen that twitch stream some years ago when the streamer played some JRPG, fell asleep in the process and ran against a wall for a good 4 hours. you could hear him snore in the background. If you can produce similarly hilarious things with DF, i'd say just go right ahead.

Heya Murdoc, if I recall correctly, when this first started we gave preference to drinkers over sleep deprivation-ers; we ended up having a pretty long waiting list. Because of that, we never actually had anybody play this game sleep deprived. I do not think that waiting 36 hours before playing is a particularly good idea--not that getting drunk is a good alternative 

I think it's best you get your sleep and we stick with the inebriation. If there was indeed a precedent, there was nothing particularly wonderful about the turn(s).

DF is timeless. And this thread does have its periodic lulls, but we always come back to it eventually. If one thing is for sure, it is that people will continue to drink (i.e., emulate dwarves) and play Dwarf Fortress. !!DRUNKFORT!! forever!
