That's because google translate makes more effort to correct spelling mistakes than we actually do. what we lose in correct syntax we make up for it in sheer amounts of recognizable words.

EDIT: Depending on whether or not my friends want to be cool fun people or not tonight, I may or may not take a turn. This will be a beer-only adventure tho, as the rain and my lack of cars means I'm not willing to grab some stronger shit today.

I think our embark location might have been a little bit physically impossible.
We embarked on top of a frozen lake, which sat higher than the lip of the volcano. When the thaw came, the Dwarves that were outside all fell, hit their heads, and drowned. The paved ice roads all melted but the walls around the ramp didn't, and the water fell into the volcano and solidified it.

Oh, wait. The volcano rim was the ice. At -1Z, there was no rock around the volcano, just a circle of ice.
