City authorities have employed monkey catchers who use a larger and fiercer kind of monkey to scare and catch the macaques. But that hasn't stopped the problem.

You know, it reminds me of one short novel, by Robert Shekley (Shakley? I only know his name written in Russian), where a certain problem has arisen from trying to prevent murders with a certain flying device, and the solution to that problem was a 'bigger and badder' kind of said device, that eventually (as hinted at the end of the novel) led to a much much worse situation. I don't know how monkeys compare, but unless they always keep the hunting monkeys restrained...

First attacking elephants, now this...  DF really has a great 'cultural impact'.

Btw, I took this picture a while back with my cellphone:

It was part of a fabric on a piece of furniture sold in one of our local shops... I just couldn't help but picture it.

A larger and fiercer kind of monkey? Do they mean humans? Or are they discriminating between monkeys and apes? Funny stuff though  :p

I think the original news story about them using the larger monkey and their general troubles with the rhesus was one of the things that inspired me to add them in the first place.  As for the larger monkey...  was it a langur monkey?  Lemee look it up...  article.  There might be a better one somewhere else.

Skinner:  Well, I was wrong.  The lizards are a godsend.
Lisa:     But isn't that a bit short-sighted?  What happens when we're overrun by lizards?
Skinner:  No problem.  We simply release wave after wave of Chinese needle snakes.  They'll wipe out the lizards.
Lisa:     But aren't the snakes even worse?
Skinner:  Yes, but we're prepared for that.  We've lined up a fabulous type of gorilla that thrives on snake meat.
Lisa:     But then we're stuck with gorillas!
Skinner:  No, that's the beautiful part.  When wintertime rolls around, the gorillas simply freeze to death.

If you want to have your religion thats fine. But letting monkeys run rampant like that is just asking for trouble. Not a very benevolent god is he? o_O

Oh well, to quote powerthirst. If God gives you lemons you FIND A NEW GOD!

However with the z axis coming up we will have to be much more careful to defend against monkeys. They climb really well so open balconies and stuff would just be another door.
