I think it might be dead. Not that I blame RedKing, given the stuff he's dealing with.  :-\

Well, we received no death notice. Maybe he just forgot it, or lack the motivation to update it and is procrastinating (Aurora-wise). I know how hard it can be to bring yourself to update a game such as this one.

It's not dead, it's merely pining for the fjords.

I've still got all the game files, but yeah...hasn't been high on my priority list what with the seperation and all. Plus, that whole "lack of a functioning computer outside of work" doesn't help.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to get back to regular updates on this thing. Granted, I think I bit off significantly more than I can chew in making it such a grand scale, but I'm determined not to write it off because I see a ton of potential for storytelling.

Even if it's a year from now, I'll still come back to it if it's revived.

Well, since I've been waiting for indications that it's not dead (ceased to be, deceased, passed on, shuffled off this mortal coil, joined the heavenly choir, gone to meet its maker, bought the farm, kicked the bucket, bit the dust, been put to sleep, and generally become an Ex-Let's Play) before joining in, I figure I should go ahead and submit a character.

Yes, I play Dwarf Fortress.  Or at least I used to.  Don't mind my low post count. :P

Name: Terrence Shaw.  Folks on familiar terms with him call him Terry; his bosses call him Lieutenant Shaw (or just Lieutenant).

Born on Picon to a pair of academics, he joined the military so they'd pay for his higher education.  With an interest in hyperspace physics, this made him a natural fit for chief astrogation officer.  He's served a few tours, but has rather looked forward to a more academic lifestyle as of late, and to finishing his doctorate, and this was to be his last tour.  But we all know how circumstances can change (not to mention it's hard to find tenure at Radioactive Ash Cloud University)...

Role: Chief Astrogation Officer, he's in charge of plotting jump courses and tracking the various phenomena they're bound to find on their interstellar journey.  In addition, with his quite extensive background in theoretical physics and a smattering of chemistry, he'd make an able project lead...someday.  For now, he's inexperienced and could use some guidance from an...experienced scientist.  (Likely specialty would be Power & Propulsion unless you think another field would fit better)

As far as military skill goes, he's a capable officer, generally speaking.  Not likely to seek his own command anytime soon, but would step up if it were needed.  Again though, inexperienced.

Basically, he could go in either direction.  Military or science, or a smattering of the two.  Jack of two trades, master of neither.  Also, it'd be hard to predict which way he'd go in case of mutiny/martial law/military coup.

Given the relative lack of doctorate opportunities, he'll be understandably miffed that he won't be able to earn his PhD and the coveted title of "Doctor"...once the shock of losing his entire family in the colonies has worn off. ;)  His parents were doctors, don't you know. [/fargo]

I'm sorry about the necro, but after coming across a mention of this game over at the Aurora forum and reading the thread yesterday I felt I just had to comment. What a great idea, and kudos to RedKing for all the work you must have put into it. You've just about blown my mind.

I'm hoping you can find the time and energy to revive it in the future. And when you do, I'll certainly be climbing aboard.

Me too.

Although the fact that this LP uses an older version of Aurora is kind of a death notice.

I can't see the version being an automatic death sentence. If the old version was adequate at the time, the existence of a new version shouldn't suddenly make it inadequate, even if it had some features you'd like to take advantage of here.

Also, sorry for being the wrong person to revive the thread. Pretty much figured that would happen.
