Inverse & Copy Function for Stockpile Settings screen
« on: September 04, 2012, 05:16:15 pm »

Greets community,

I often run into the problem I want to divide stockpiles for specific properties like magma safety, Quality Levels and stuff.
Since most of the lists are pretty long it's tedious to mark every thing individually.

I would like it to work this way :

Say, you have one stockpile which is thought to only contain Gabbro and another one which contains everything else.
You now would set the first one to only contain Gabbro. After that, you move the cursor over the stockpile and copy it's contents into the custom settings to paint the second stockpile.
If you now enter the Stockpile Settings and move completely to the right, pressing "i" for example should inverse everything marked, leaving everything permitted besides Gabbro.

This obviously gets more useful the more items you want to divide. I think it is a reasonable addition which would help a great deal.
Feel free to criticise :)

It makes perfect sence to me. "i" is a heavily used key though. "I" or "r" maybe?

It would also be nice to be able to configure more than one custom stockpile. This could come in extremely handy, too.

@Putnam :

Since I guess your "Huh" means it's unclear what I mean with that, let me explain :
I want some unused Letters added in the Stockpile menu, which names and settings I can configure. That way you could have more than one custom stockpile.
Considering how very rare I use the normal stockpiles ( and I guess most people do not use the standard ones) this would come in very handy for me.

You can have more than one custom stockpile. I'm not sure what you mean by that.

He wants to make certain types of custom stockpiles over and over.

You can have more than one custom stockpile, of course, but you can only define one in the stockpiles (p-t). I would like to be able to define, say, Stone-Magmasafe, Stone-nonmagma safe, Plants-brewable for example.

I have at least 6 or 7 Custom stockpiles I regularly use, so being able to define more than one in the menu would help me a great deal. Especially if I could define them in a way I can use them in different forts.

I really wish there was a copy command.

Whenever I want to go and expand a custom stockpile, its a lot of work to manually copy all the options the old one had, then delete and remark.
The complicated stuff like "any non-masterwork useful metal object", or "that list of things that the liaison mentioned the mountainhomes want next year" are hard, and often things are missed.

Exactly.

Yeah, that was the exact trigger for me to post that idea. I wanted to make my Magmasafe stone stockpile bigger and then add a non-Magmasafe-stockpile.
