I'm thinking about getting this game. Does it get old fast though?

New stuff comes out every 2 weeks so not really if you don't burn your self out on it.

I just got this and really can't put it down. Almost called out of work today  :P

Are they planning on doing continuous updates like Terraria(promised) or will they pretty much stop updating once it's released(like Terraria) :D

There's literally a counter on the first screen that says how many days till the next update.

Yeah I see that, but I'm asking once it's no longer in beta will they still update?

Well, it gets old slow enough for 6 bucks.
I've already clocked more than 20 hours in the game, so I'd say I already got my money's worth.

From what can be gathered from the forums, the dev seems to be committed to evolving the game past its official release, then again did the Terraria devs not say the same ? On a positive note, considering the devs have been involved pretty much only with 'one-off' games it seems like this is their attempt at doing something longer term, which is both smart and promising. To be honest, the style, mechanics and setup for this particular game has long-term potential despite its singleplayer nature.

Sure but you must admit the way they shut it down was a bit harsh.

I think I missed something then...
All I can remember was them releasing a huge update about a year after release.
If this is bad updates, I don't know what good updates are?

I don't expect developers to keep developing a game year after year.
(except with TF2 where they shut the developers in a basement and didn't tell them the game was released. So they just kept working. They still don't have any idea of how long they've been there, but they know the game still needs more hats for it to be finished)

I think the idea was, they had said they were going to keep on updating FOR EVER (well, within raisin. Like TF2 or Minecraft style). Then they only did one big update and stopped.
Anyway, enough with the derail!

Yeah, the Terraria devs did as they said they would.
That said, it's a bit ironic of you to use that as an example of devs never doing anything after release, because Redigit just announced another Terraria update, and it looks to have rain and stuff.
