I picked this game up. I like the art and play style more than I thought I would. It is also (so far) less random death than I thought.

That being said, it doesn't play like a "survival" simulator as much as I thought it would. In survival sims I (for what ever reason) think I should be able to build up a house and get some sort of food production going. In this game I have mostly just walked around killing turkeys and chopping trees.

Granted I have only played for a hour or so.

Can anyone give me a hit about where to find gold?

Also, food production is quite a major part of the game.  You've barely tapped the surface

Artwork and sound are awesome, but the grind is killing the game.

Yeah, that's what I did, and I also farmed gold ores, but it gets old quickly.
I don't know, maybe I'm not as much patient as I was.

Well you're not wrong. Devs noticed that the game is to much of a grind, so they are removing research points. More details here:
