Right now, the options available for secret data are indeed limited. I guess a few more possibilities would be fine:
 - Publish the data with a taken-over TV/radio station stage. Would be more effective than doing a special edition of the Liberal Guardian (if, of course, the public's trust into cable TV/radio isn't low), but is more likely to attract Security Guards and the Police on the exit.
- Publish the data online. Will require someone with a high Computers skill. If the Computers skill isn't REALLY high, the current safehouse will receive a lot of heat. Will be as effective as the Liberal Guardian, but is less powerful in making the LCS itself more respectable.
(There seem to be mentions of the Liberal Guardian possibly being an "online newsletter" in the sources, though I don't understand how it is being determined.)*
 - Hold the data for a ransom. Will raise heat a lot, will give either a large amount of money or a way higher effectivity than publishing it in the Liberal Guardian, but will not increase the public opinion on the LCS itself.

*The only mentions of the function "guardianupdate()" are defining the function, not calling it. How is that function even called?

I'd like for flying a flag to have less effect the less important the flag is.

That is already true. When the flag is considered sacred (C+), flying it is 3 times more effective (and not flying it is actually detrimental) for heat protection.

Liberal Guardian is not online (or not primarily online) as evidenced by the fact, that you need a printing press to have it.

Perhaps the "Write to Newspapers" activity could be replaced with "Contribute to Blogs" or something. I can imagine that "contribute" would mean writing Liberal blog comments, writing your own Liberal blog, or contributing to a Liberal news site. I don't mean those specific things would be in the game, I'm just trying to rationalize what the activity would consist of in the game's reality.

Newspapers are still an important credible source cited on blogs. There should be both if you add an online factor.

There could also be a liberal podcast (with audio equipment). Newspapers are just so... conservative, y'know?

THe millions of student and socialist newspapers that exist beg to differ. Local left-wing newspapers vastly outnumber local right-wing newspapers. Ever city has union-produced papers, how many have far-right papers?

The game pretty much reflects reality - LCS puts out a left-wing paper, and the conservatives have AM Radio + Cable TV.

I'd argue that podcasts are inherently "middle class" faux liberal. Anything which needs relatively expensive equipment to check it out (much more expensive for the listener than an AM Radio) doesn't really fit the grass-roots idea. Left-wingers put out papers because even the poorest person can read a paper as long as they are semi-literate.

Out of world population, 4-5% have access to a computer, and 3-5% have internet access. So "podcast" may seem ordinary to some people, but it means "rich fake liberal yuppie bastard" to the 97% of everyone else.

1 in 3 Americans lack internet access, and they aren't the rich ones.

While I'm not denying that people w/ internet/computers are still a minority in the world, I question those numbers. They seem way too low.

Besides, LCS takes place in the US anyway, so that first number doesn't even count.

Actually looks like those figures were a little out of date sorry, it says total usage has grown by 500% in the last decade. I must've had back luck with the first link i found, i should have clicked around more -_-

I think the different figures reflect different questions asked. Maybe the 5% was "own a computer" (computer in their home). But when asked about "access to the internet" it's about 30% of the world. Looks like most people with "access" use community resources or a friend / relatives connection. Like the homeless people who accessed internet at a Salvation Army internet cafe where I volunteered.

Current figures state that about 100 million North Americans lack internet access, which is the most relevant to LCS.

Most people with access in America have a shitty connection still, as of 2010, by this data:
http://www.internetworldstats.com/am/us.htm
240 million internet users, 80 million of those have broadband.

There are about 5 billion cell phone subscriptions on the planet, i wonder how many people that, plus internet cafes is their primary "access"

The Salvation Army has internet cafes? If that isn't a waste of resources...

Yeah, when you put it like that it does seem like a silly idea.

There are only 270 million adults in the US, by 2011 US Census Bureau estimate, and an FCC survey in 2011 showed 22% of American adults do not use the Internet, which comes out to about 60 million adults, rather than 100 million -- I point out this discrepancy because babies and small children are generally not Internet users, and that inflates statistics if you don't put an age limit on the data trawl.

Well i said 100 million in "North America" specifically, which if you include Mexico is about 20%, or 28% if you only consider USA + Canada. Which isn't that much off your 22%. You're saying USA specifically, where I said North america, as well as adults, which is apples and oranges in two different ways to what i wrote.

The main point here was in response to the suggestion that we should do away with the liberal newspaper and have podcasts because they are more "liberal" and making a newspaper is so "conservative, you know". my point was that things like podcasts are really for middle class professionals and hipsters, not the real in-the-streets revolutionary types.

BTW should we drop hippies and have hipsters instead? Also no more PDAs we need Smartphones, every hipster should start with one.
